This statement just doesn’t mean as much as it used to now that it’s a 12 team field. We’re not new to this gauntlet. We also don’t even play Georgia or OU, at least not in regular season.
It’s also harder to gauge teams year over year with all the roster turnover we see these days, and TX is the only one you listed that anyone could expect to be remarkably / outstandingly good.
Schedule shapes up well for us with them being toward the end — Because IF LSU doesn’t make the playoff next year, it probably looks a lot like TX this year (where you have some early season growing pains but then everything is in sync by season’s end).

I wouldn't be excited no matter who i were a fan of. College sports are dead, there is nothing exciting or noble or enjoyable about what it takes to get ahead or win now.
