The Auburn Family nonsense (one of the most nauseating, marketing gimmicks that I've ever come across).
P.S. Someone referenced "a love of Gus" in an earlier post. No, in actuality, I can't say that I love Gus. In fact, I'm extremely happy to have finally moved on from the Chizik and Malzhan eras.

UA-Tennessee is an old man’s rivalry just like LSU-Ole Miss, Auburn-GT or LSU-Tulane. I’m wish these games continued with the same intensity and hatred that they did 100 years ago.

There is a portion of our fan base that doesn’t want us to succeed. There are those that were happy to see James Franklin leave so they could get back to being the only Vandy fans in the stadium. They didn’t like the “bandwagon” fans that came with winning football games. They enjoy being the “most loyal” fans of a horrible football team. They love to take the high road and act morally superior. I’ve gone to football games and been asked to sit down and stop cheering by old people that are only there to socialize with other snobby types.

I went to the G-Day game in 2016 (Kirby’s debut) and I overheard a guy leaving at halftime say “all I wanted to see was Eason throw a TD pass to Nauta”.
That section of the fan base is pretty annoying. There’s also the section who is just fine with celebrating 2021 and expect us not to get back to that stage for a while. Those fans are just fine with us not challenging Bama year in and year out.
ETA: same group we’re ultra-defeatists during the late CMR era and 2016 season. Just annoying.

I used to hate that our fans loved basketball to the exclusion of every other sport but our fan base seems to have done an about face. Football is a hot topic year round now, except with the old blue hairs, that is.
