Ah yes who wouldn’t want to stand shoulder to shoulder in a completely max capacity bar after paying $60+ up to get in for a $5 beer and where you can barely hear yourself think
LSU weekend probably closer to 80-100+
I always enjoyed the growler and they’ve added on to it since it opened but my go to post game in Oxford is Blind Pig. Great atmosphere, food is superb and plenty to drink.
Late night city grocery bar upstairs. I haven’t been on the square in a few years though so I have no idea what’s there anymore.

I like to reenact the Billy Cannon Run in the square

I'll probably catch flack, but Saturday's in the fall at Oxford blow. They really do. I've been a lot of places for football games, some for LSU games, others not (off the top of my head, I've been to games at LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, MS State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, A&M, Texas, TCU, Notre Dame, UNC, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Washington, Colorado State, Univ. of Ohio), and Ole Miss/Oxford, undoubtedly, is the most "challenging" to enjoy, if that makes sense.
It's simply entirely too small, too crowded and congested, and way too much of a hassle. Everything has long waits, expensive covers, hard to maneuver and get around, no live music and bbq grills, drinking is a hassle - even as an adult. It just doesn't cater well to large crowds. Finding a place to stay is a hassle, getting in/out is a hassle, maneuvering through the Square and The Grove (which is a nice setting, just way too compact and discombobulated) is a hassle. It's just such a PIA that it simply isn't worth it.
Take my advice and head up there in the spring when LSU plays Ole Miss in baseball. Much more enjoyable.

My wife I believe got me tickets there because it's on my birthday, but I may tell her that it may be best to go to a different game after reading this.

The popular college bars? Sure.
Blind pig, growler, Funky’s upstairs from City grocery bar, Penny bar, and numerous others are either free or $10-20

Penny bar,
Ayeeeeee these are my people right here.
It’s my go-to in town. Love the bartenders. Dive vibe with mostly service people who come in and townies.
Also: best air conditioner on the square. That shite will blow a toupee right off your dome when it kicks on

Ah man don’t let us discourage you. Just know that it’s a challenging and not a very seamless experience .
For example if I were to show my friends the town, I would absolutely avoid a gameday weekend. It gives almost no ability to see the charm in the town.

place to stay in Sardis
TriBecca is pretty good pizza in Sardis.
Como Steakhouse is also pretty good just north of you.
Rice and Spice in Oxford is legitimately good Thai food.

Exactly. I had a friend play there several times and he introduced me to it.

That’s not to say there’s not stuff to do it just is a lot to deal with and LSU is our biggest weekend usually. I hate how early the game is this year.

They need to do a "where are they now" on the drunk chick.

Your best bet is to let Mercerbears be your co-pilot for the weekend.

Good lord at the amount of LSU fans in this thread. There are actually some helpful and insightful reviews in here and then there’s a couple that are mad Oxford is nicer than the murder/rape/robbery fest their school resides in

Mr. Faulkner's former home at Rowan Oak is definitely worth a visit.

People are great in Oxford, Ole Miss fans are pretty friendly in person. Go to Ajax and shop in the square. Walking around the Grove on Gameday is great people are inviting.
