There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of Sankey and his power

There seems to be a consensus among many that Greg Sankey is acting unilaterally in this whole LSU situation.
That’s simply not true. Sankey reports directly to the presidents and chancellors of SEC member institutions. He’s does are they tell him to do.
It’s not Greg Sankey behind all this, it’s the presidents and chancellors of the other 15 members institutions of the SEC who are driving the bus. Everything that Sankey has done has been by their direction.
And now, as is being reported this morning, the Executive Committee of the SEC will meet Thursday to decide if LSU is to be expelled from the conference. As of today, here is the makeup of the executive committee that will decide LSU’s fate in roughly 48 hours:
Tennessee
Missouri
Texas A&M
Ole Miss
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
The heads of those SEC institutions will be the ones to decide, not Greg Sankey.

How do non-charter schools get to be on the executive committee?

Sankey certainly didn’t work in favor of members institutions when he butchered the new TV deal while watching the B1G come out gangbusters. And adding a 9th conference game.

Just a guess, but I’m betting membership on the executive committee is fine on a rotating basis.

There was no conference rule against it at that time.
It’s worth noting that yall didn’t actually play them after the rule was enacted as opposed to Missouri and Ole Miss and I hope there is accountability there for that as well.

Which is why this is silly and stupid. The federal court is likely going to abstain and remind the conference that attempting to circumvent a court order is grounds for contempt.
Someone is grinding axes. And the conference must have amateur general counsel.

Rule 4 of the SEC bylaws. If the SEC is filing for a declaratory judgment on their own bylaws, those same bylaws give the commissioner sole authority to do about anything absent expelling a member.

There wasn't a conference rule until after these recent players filed their lawsuit a couple weeks ago and received a TRO. Why didn't Sankey throw a fit when Bedaiko got a TRO and then actually played in games?

Sankey is Roger Goodell. It does not matter how much the fans hate him. They get no say. If the presidents think he is good for the financials of their institutions he isn't going anywhere. If things go south and it looks bad for the financials, he'll be canned.
I also don't believe he would have made the move he did this morning without the backing of a significant amount of league presidents. The guy is a mouthpiece. Nothing more, nothing less.

No they won't. Nobody is voting to expel LSU unless LSU plays pro players, and then they might (but I don't think they would even then).
This is about the SEC communicating that it has the power to expel members who intentionally violate policy and fail to recognize the authority of the conference to set policy. (A policy their own admin voted for!)

I find it delicious that Donde Plowman sits at the head of this Executive Committee given some LSU comments towards Tennessee when we've said jack and shite.

We will see. The elements of the specific case seem different than what the back and forth is specifically so how it goes I have no idea.
I believe a private conference/league has every right to make whatever rules they want about eligibility just like they do in the NFL or a country club so long as it doesn’t violate federally protected rights.
If they don’t every player who ever was impacted previously by a rule change has grounds for an injunction and eligibility retroactively.
LSU and the players are the ones trying to usurp that existing authority, not the other way around.
