The funny part about this whole discussion is that A&M is THE largest university in the SEC. We have more students enrolled at A&M than, in some cases, two of you other universities combined. We turn down more applicants most years than most of you get applicants at all. Our admission standards are higher than most other SEC schools and our graduates make more money on average than any other SEC school. We are an AAU accredited university. One of only four SEC schools. The rest of you wouldn't qualify. In addition, we outrank almost every other SEC school in relevant metrics.
And we are the weird cult school. Maybe some of you should become weird cult schools too in order to make your school even greater than it already is. Most of you have a lot of catching up to do.
All that and you still can't put anything in your trophy case. Sad.

Here's the funny part that I am pretty sure most Aggies do not realize. It's this type of response right here that keeps them from being great. They have an ingrained, well-intentioned arrogance about them. All Aggies are taught to believe that they are better than outsiders, and if someone is to challenge you on that, well just bring up some other stuff that shows you are, in fact, better than them.
They never get to the point of introspection to see where they fell short, because according to their culture, they never do fall short, they're just being measured incorrectly.
"Aggies have never lost. We've only been trailing when time expired."

Here is the other funny part. If all you are concerned about is getting your higher education at a school that is good at sports then A&M is probably not your thing. If you are more concerned about getting your higher education at a school that can help provide the best future for you and your family, then A&M may be your thing. It all depends on your priorities and your ability as you move into adulthood.
I have a feeling that half of the posters on this board are "tshirt" or "sidewalk" fans of the schools they support on this forum. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, every school has tshirt for one reason or another. Being a graduate from that school carries a greater amount of skin on the game when dealing with the knuckleheads on this page, especially when you are commenting on things that you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about. All you are doing is repeating what others have said. They teach monkeys how to repeat stuff. You have heard of the phrase "monkey see, monkey do"?

Deflecting and name-calling. Well done.
To say that in order for a school to provide you a solid educational foundation, then it must be mediocre at sports is a false dichotomy. You can be great at both, good at both, bad at both, etc.
Besides that, and despite me not sinking lower than personal opinion of my observations of a culture, you resort to name-calling. Just saying.

What? You don't flex about how much money OTHER people make from their degrees that THEY (not you) earned going to a university that you yourself may or may not have attended that you just support emotionally? Weird...

You know you've already lost when you're forced to melt like this on a sports board.

Do they have to blackmail these guys to do this shite? No way anyone is volunteering to do that

I’ve been on the board of directors of two different companies and have started two of my own, and I have to agree with you.

really would like a sane A&M fan or alum actually give a reasoned defense of this embarrassing stuff. I mean, they obviously like it and appreciate it and it is meaningful to them, or else they would storm the offices and powers that be and demand the embarrassment to stop. But that's just it, they aren't embarrassed by it, like anyone else would be. And to try the false equivalence of posting clearly gay/queer UT students (of which every school has a lot of, and A&M has a ton of just by virtue of the sheer volume of students they have), isn't the same. Those are kids doing things of their own volition on their own time and dime. The gayness that is yell leaders is a school-sanctioned, official university activity.
Sane A&M alum here. I’ve maintained a fairly healthy interest in college football since my time as a student. I actually prefer this site to texags because the trash talk is amusing. At any rate…defense of the embarrassing stuff?
I don’t really have any. The older I get, the sillier it does appear, I will readily admit. The one thing the yell leaders have pulled off over the decades is crowd participation. The unison participation they are able to orchestrate doesn’t directly affect games, but it serves to keep the crowd somewhat engaged I guess.
But the theatrics involved do look odd, sure. I’ll also point out they tend to evolve over time. They didn’t look exactly like that when I was a student, and same could be said of generations before me.
As far as storming offices???? Who has time for that nonsense. I have a family and a career. Why would I give one single shite about what that university sanctions and how it may be hard to watch for some. I don’t care. I probably have less school spirit than most though. A&M wasn’t even my first choice. Didn’t get denied admission anywhere else, just was influenced by family tradition/lineage. It is what it is.
Whether I think it looks stupid is irrelevant though. I don’t walk around telling new people I meet where I went to school. Who does that anyway? I’ll never meet any of you people so, again….storm the offices and demand they outlaw yell leaders? You must have more school spirit and donate way more money to your university system than anyone I’ve ever met

I just came over here to see if this was posted.
It is painful to watch and made me feel very uncomfortable.
How does an aggie defend something as gay as this?

As cringe as y’all may think the Yell Leaders are, they pretty much have their choice of women at A&M.
