They immediately threw the flag. Try to make your argument like an adult like the posters above showing the rules on a blindside block and using hands. That is how make your point and defend your position. Not immature comments like this:

The refs are told to protect the QB like a 16 yo virgin girl at prom night
quote:
If Nussmeier had no chance to make the play, then he should have stayed still.
You have to be kidding me...

You cannot have this both ways when it comes to the QB. Either he's a defender, eligible to be blocked, or he's not. If he's a defender and moves towards the ball carrier, then he should be eligible to be blocked. If he's not a defender, then he should either give himself up or kneel down and take himself out of the play.
I get that they're trying to protect QBs, but this is stupid. If the QB isn't a defender, then he should be officially out of the play. Contact after pick is an automatic penalty. I can get behind that.

Blind side blocks are illegal… period.

He absolutely was eligible to be blocked. 100% he was taking steps to intercept the returner. I'm not arguing that and I haven't seen anyone else argue that either. If they are, they are idiots.
But to say that the QB should have stood there is pretty weak.

This is exactly what we should be avoiding. There's too many rules and creating all this confusion. Adding more rules isn't going to fix this.

As an outside observer who actually likes both teams, I have to say that was a horrible call. It wasn’t as bad as the phantom offensive PI call, but pretty damn close.

This is embarrassing to the sport of football.
You guys seem intent on bringing in a Yankee coach and infecting the rest of the SEC

Since when is shoving a guy in the chest an illegal block?
Since the blindside block was made illegal. There is not “just use your hands” loophole. If you knock a player down coming from the opposite direction and especially if that player isn’t looking, it’s a blindside block and that’s against the rules.

Not "Unnecessary Roughness"
If #5 wanted to he could have OBLITERATED Nuss.

You followed up that sentence with this one:

Not only was it a blind side block you can see that #5 went straight for Nuss’s head/helmet area.

Just because you are offended does not mean you are right!

LSU fans would be fire bombing the SEC offices if they lost on a call like this
Posted on 9/16/24 at 8:41 am to TigerFan244
What was the call on the play? I admittedly didn’t watch. It would seem like if the interception happened, and then it was called a blind side block after the pick, then South Carolina should’ve kept the ball and been penalized 15 yards. Maybe I’m wrong

Bama fans complaining about officiating is pretty funny. Wasn’t Bama the team that went through an entire season without a holding call when their boy was running the SEC refs?

It was stupid on the player’s part. Even Beamer admitted that.
It was a useless hit. It was called.

It is painfully obvious that SC got hosed on this call. Take your purple and yellow glasses off and it is easy to see. Dude blocked him and he flopped better than Lebron. Hate it for SC as the refs stole the game from them.

Probably was a useless block but nothing illegal about it what so ever. Refs gift wrapped a W for LSU.
