Lol what? Venables coached a national championship team AT OU. Has recruiting ties in the south and Texas. Coached 3 National championship defenses.

Lololol, wut?

Venables is the antithesis of a knee jerk hire. Literally the opposite.

Penix followed him to Washington. Deboer was his coach at Indiana.

What’s impressive is he took all of those 3 stars and beat Texas, Oregon twice, and nearly took out the number one seed and eventual National Champions. Imagine what he’ll do with the talent already in Tuscaloosa

You telling me he took a bunch of 2 & 3 stars to the CFP Championship game?

Sounds like some good coaching.

So he is able to get to an elite level of CFP without a top 10 roster? Sounds like a slam dunk hire to me.

Flew up to watch LSU play Washington back in the day. Was a pretty place.

But my buddy who lives there now said it’s unsafe to walk around much of the city. Wittinesses bums shooting up and purse snatching attempts on the reg.

Michigan Defense is legit. They pushed Bama around as well

Auburn’s head coach has had multiple top 10 recruiting classes in his career yet has never won the SEC, made the playoffs, and obviously never played for a national championship.

Doing less with more. Is that in the Auburn creed? If not, it should be.

I don't understand this flex. This only galvanizes the hire. Get some great recruiters in, things keep ticking along. Playing for a national championship with 2/3*s kind of speaks volumes.

Are you counting his top 10 classes at Ole MIss then applying it to Auburn? What the frick does one have to do with the other? When Auburn signs top 10 classes, weve won the West, the SEC and a National Championship.

At Ole Miss, Freeze beat Bama like a drum with Ole MIss talent and depth. Now he is at Auburn stacking 5 stars and you think Bama is marked safe from Auburn?

You're comparing recruiting at Washington with a minimal NIL participation and weak talent pool to recruiting the southeast?

And you’re overlooking the fix t this guy doesn’t have the first clue on how to recruit in the Southeast. He has no connections to any high schools, nor does the coaching staff he’s bringing with him.

Doesn’t matter if the WRs are good if you don’t have a Quarterback

The flip side to this is that he took those lower ranked classes to a national championship game. So with Bamas recruiting resources and a more talented pool to recruit from, his classes will be much higher.

Still don’t think it will be good enough for the delusional fanbase.

“You don’t get to play the little sisters of the poor every week like you do at Washington.”

But they get to play her cousin, Auburn?

The cope is in full swing with the gump posters. They are actually suggesting that Bama doesn’t need as much talent to be successful under DeBoer as it did under tGOAT. Wow!

It’s going to be real interesting/fun to watch the Bammers slide back to 7-12 ranked recruiting classes over the next few seasons. Not bad but definitely not what they are used to.

He was going to pull the ripcord this season anyway he could because he was facing the prospect of only winning 7-8 games next year. Bama just happened to be the one who offered him a parachute.
