Again, I'm glad that the Pigs have Mallett and we have McElroy.

Not an apples to apples comparison. You're mentally deficient if you do not see that you cannot make a fair comparison between Mallett and Mcelroy.
I'll make a fair comparison. Mallett is really good an Mcelroy is medicore

It's similar to posting on an internet message board because you like hearing the sound of your own voice...

All of this in my opinion equals GAME "MANAGER" AT BEST. To me, all of this, on average, equals Greg Mcelroy will do just enough to not frick up and lose the game single handedly for the team. If your role on the team is to not lose the game for the team, you suck. He is the equivalent of a right fielder in little league.

You're probably in the camp that thinks Matt Mauck did not suck.
I believe that Mcelroy sucks. If his on the field performance last year was indicative of his ability, I don't care if he won 4 national championships in 4 years. If he improves dramatically this year, I will gladly change my opinion of him.
I don't believe that will happen, though.

^^^THIS^^^
Per Tup, Bama prolly would have won the NC if McElroy hadn't held them back.

McElroy is a good QB. Leave the kid alone.

There is no way of objectively comparing Mallett and McElroy. The operate in different offenses, with different supporting casts, and they played in much different conditions (Mallett's home games were in Fayetteville, in a stadium that I believe is much less imposing than BDS). Furthermore, Mallett played the top four SEC defenses on the road, while McElroy got Florida and LSU at home.
I think they are both good quarterbacks, but I would never trade Mallett for McElroy because I already know what he can do in OUR offense. Maybe McElroy could be just as good in our offense, but I wouldn't take the risk.
Anyone trying to make an objective comparison of the two is engaging in an exercise of futility. You can't do it, even if you compare their stats. Quarterbacks do not operate in a vacuum--they have a unique offense to run and they have a unique offensive line and receivers. No objective comparison is possible.

McElroy played Florida in Atlanta in the Dome, but otherwise great post.
