People do not realize that they have to buy their way out if they leave before 2111/ That's 99 years. They are not waiting on 2025 so they can get out of paying an exit fee. LINK /

UT has enough money to hang any buyout up in lawsuits for eternity. The Big 12 knows this. There will be a compromise.

It’s been fun to watch OU hold onto Texas’ pocket throughout this entire ordeal

That is a long time and curious why anyone would negotiate anything under that timeframe.

So why not just hop over now?
Seems like Texas is having trouble winning that conference.
The only acceptable scenario for UT, Ou and the sec is for those two to be in the big12 championship every year.
Otherwise baylor and OSU and national pundits are going to dog them for not being good enough to win the conference they are leaving.

They can, though.
Only the Grant of Rights is fiduciary.
The "i promise to stay for 100 years" is unenforceable and penalty-free.
The two stipulations are not tied together contractually, and only the GOR spells out financial obligations.

Texas - 206
Baylor (second most) - 88

Okay. I should have clarified.
I am talking about football. And the two should be meeting in the big12 cship game.

2111 - 2022 = 99

I still chuckle at the "young" Ags hating on Baylor. They are such a non issue to me.
but I suppose it's all about current perspective. My kids, all they know is SEC and they will spit on the ground if you mention LSU while they have zero ill thoughts for the sips.
anyway, I have nothing to add to the conversation except frick both OU and the sips.

Searching for a rival, still? You should aim for miss state, then.

Seems you’ve been wanting to erase them from your kids’ minds too, eh?

I dont give a flying frick about Baylor from wins and losses standpoint.
I think their athletic program should be burned to the ground for their heinous crimes, and the resulting cover ups to protect their sports programs.
The Briles era was the second most heinous example of an out of control athletics we have ever seen, behind only Penn. St.
The fact that they did everything they did to protect football, and silence/punish victims, and they still have a football program is disgusting, and I wish them nothing but misery and failure forever.

They will be part of the sec for 2023. With the 4 new schools coming on board in 2023, a compromise for that year will be reached.

"What about the Big 12?
According to the Big 12’s bylaws, the 10 programs have agreed — with the other members — to remain in the conference until July 1, 2111, a period of 99 years from the July 1, 2012 agreement."

Great Briton leased Hong Kong from China for 99 years. That's all I have.
