You didn't... Knoxville is pretty far away.

I get the feeling that people forget how 2021 Arkansas beat most of the top-15 last season. There were few teams within reach that didn't receive a shot at beating Arkansas.

NCSU and Oklahoma were the only teams that did and Oklahoma just played one midweek game against Arkansas. NCSU won two games by 1 run to advance.

That 1989 Aggie team was loaded with some tough dudes & would have mopped the floor with any of these cute little Super Regional losers. Any pitcher from several of Skip's better teams would have thrown the ball through the ears of that little peckerwood who flipped the bird. The Aggies' ace that year would have drilled him every time he came to bat afterwards. I promise he would have flipped the bird to one Joey Albert Belle one time and one time only. Joey would have turned him upside down & used him like a pogo stick.

2013 Vandy has to be up there. They went 26-3 in conference play

That same year, LSU went 24-6 in the SEC and entered the postseason 52-9 overall after beating Vandy in an incredible 11-inning SECT title game. They did make it to Omaha (so don’t fit the criteria of the thread) but went 2Q, finishing the season 57-11, most wins in LSU history. Vandy and LSU were 1/2 in the country that year and neither won a game in Omaha. Pretty crazy IMO

LSU fans are still melting over it even after a decade and winning a national championship since then

I mean, wouldn’t you? There’s some losses than fans just aren’t going to ever really get over.

We hit so many balls to the warning track those games. That UCLA game was so damn frustrating

Yep. That was a heck of a team.

This bitch slap was good for them. They are all new at following baseball. They’ll learn.

It can boil down to who is hot and who is not. This is no where in the ballpark of the best Ole Miss team. But for some odd reason we found a rhythm. Haven’t lost yet in the tourney. And shut out USM at home back to back. Makes no sense to me. It happens.

Yep. Aaron Nola went 8 innings, gave up 5 hits, walked 1, gave up zero ER and lost

It was after that CWS Mainieri stopped recruiting players to hit home runs and recruited a bunch of athletic shortstops who hit for contact. Not sure if it was that year, but one of the early years at TDA after BBCOR bats, there were like 4-5 HRs hit the entire CWS.

Maybe I’m being over dramatic, but I feel like the LSU series was the catalyst that got Ole Miss going. They were in danger of missing the SECT, sweep LSU, and then started playing like the team they were supposed to be when the season started. And it had the opposite effect on LSU. We were playing our best baseball of the year going into that series and then hit a wall outside a 3 game series w Vandy

1989 State team (54-14) and 20-5 in the SEC. Won the conference regular season championship. Team was loaded and deep.
Probably was State’s best team ever (even better than 1985) but lost to NC in the Regional Final.
That team needs to be your fourth team not to make Omaha that was absolutely great during the regular season.

I’m not gonna do it. But would that happen if I did ?

Winners of 56 games with an absolutely loaded roster the Gamecocks got backdoored in their home Super Regional by a really good UL Lafayette team that went on to make some noise in Omaha the following week.

25-5 in the conference
