Vanderbilt isnt going to make the playoffs unless there is a ton of chaos

They need help but I'm not sure they need a ton of chaos.

Provided they win out and finish 10-2 they are likely to jump Utah whose only 2 remaining games are the Kansas schools. Ideal state is Georgia beats Georgia Tech who wins the ACC and Texas Tech beats down BYU again.

That puts them in the 11 seed basically. They would still need one of LSU/Mizzou in Norman or Auburn to win the Iron Bowl.

That feels very plausible except for the last scenario

BYU shouldn't get in over Vandy.

BYU has Cincy and UCF remaining.

I'd love an explanation of how a 2 loss Utah is above a 2 loss Vandy. Or a 1 loss BYU that squeaked by some absolute dregs and has only beaten Utah.

I would bet significant money that Utah would get the spot over Vandy if they both finish 10-2. Vandy isnt going to jump any team ahead of it with their remaining schedule, 8-4 tennessee who would have beaten 0 bowl eligible teams is not going to sway the committee. Maybe if they win by 60. Utah's resume will wind up looking pretty similar to Vandys, with the difference being Utah is a metrics darling (highly rated in almost all of the advanced metrics)

I know Vandy is a good story this year, but when you factor out the feels, they are overrated

Best win: overrated Mizzou

Would not surprise me if they lose to Kentucky or Tennessee

Because it isn’t about the best teams.

Also, they now have the weakest schedule in the SEC, A&M finally moved up a spot.
I love how much this lives rent free in your head.

Do you wake up every morning worrying about A&Ms SoS? I hope so.

Vandy isnt the team to pick to make that point, the vegas line for them would be around +5.5 if they played Utah on a neutral field

The SEC team getting screwed is Ole Miss, who should be in line for the #5 seed (where they get to play a G5) instead of being slotted at #6 and having to play a real team

I know we don't expect them to because they are Vandy. But they played a complete crap OOC schedule. That doesn't matter when you are Vandy and trying to make a bowl game.

It does matter when you are trying to get into the playoff. They need at least one respectable team on that OOC schedule.

Too bad Vandy isn't going to win against Kentucky this coming weekend.

We gave them that game.

Yes, and even so, a few inches further to the right on the missed FG and a few inches further on the Hail Mary and Mizzou wins that game anyway. Vandy was very fortunate in that game.

If Bama loses to Auburn
IF?? Alabama doesn't have a running game and Auburn's defense does very well against the run. Simpson had better be practicing on scrambling a lot. Durkin is coaching for a job and his interview will be the most watched in the country.

If Aubs win that game it’s life changing money for Durkin! Will get a huge salary and in 3 years will be enjoying his $50 million in buyout money!!

Perhaps let Pavia play a few more years. Once he is in “NFL prime age” years, perhaps Vandy can make the playoffs.
