The state of MS State and Lebby Ball.

Just enjoying a coffee and mocking all you fools who argued that MS State getting a bowl spot was a good thing because of "a free check and practice."
So how did that turn out, geniuses?
Let's see what we got:
1. Humiliating defeat
2. Losing our future QB to injury
3. Demonstrating Lebby Ball fail
4. Putting a loss on our bowl record
5. Embarraasing the program
6. Likely losing potential recruits
What we gained:
1. Free check
2. Ridicule
Yep, such a big boost for the program! Illustrating the terrible prep and coaching of one Jeff Lebby and the lousy decision of AD Zac Selmon, accepting a bowl we had no business being in.
You fools that want to keep putting Lebby on some kind of pedestal, I'll just keep laughing at you, since that's good for the soul, because watching MSU football certainly is not.
So put your money where your mouth is and defend Lebby now. This should be entertaining.

Sounds like the KT injury isn’t as catastrophic as originally thought. I’m with you though. I don’t think this bowl game helped us in any way. Effort really didn’t look to be there early on so not sure the prep and practice was beneficial. If Taylor can get healthy and start next season and Arnette can get the defense somewhat turned around I still think there’s some hope. Remember, it’s never as bad as it seems. Until it is. Not there yet.

There’s a reason OU fans wanted him gone and I hate to see what’s happening to Mississippi State.
The biggest frustration was his lack of in game awareness. The OU defense would get off the field but absolutely gassed.
Lebby would call 3 x HUNH plays in less than 30 seconds, 3 & out, and the defense is immediately back on the field still gassed. The verdict is still out on Ben Arbuckle.

Have yall considered just shutting the football program down? It would eliminate alot of those negatives

I'll be charitible and not refer to Lebby as "that idiot," even though that's what I think of him. Let's instead say he's "unfit" to be a head coach.
Unfortunately, MS State will likely have to endure another horrible season with him at the helm before firing his incompetent butt!

Football will never get over the hump if yall keep pouring all the money into baseball.

Funny Reb but we wouldn't want to deprive you of some competition every now and then. We dominated you guys in the 1990's and even though you're enjoying a golden age right now, you'll come down to Earth eventually.
Per your suggestion though, having Lebby run our football program the way he's running it, it's about the same as having no program at all. All your ilk has to do is keep hoping Lebby stays on the job.

You already got New Orleans on lockdown and now you want all the croots in Mississippi to yourself? Man, you getting greedy.

That's a dumb and untrue statement.

You should continue to strive for and target that place known as “wull, we’re not Arkansas”

I'd rather see State make it back up, it was alot more fun in the Dan Mullen era

I don't know anyone that is happy with the condition State football is in. I don't know why you think you are the only person that sees it.

I had no issue with them accepting the bowl game and disagree with your list of reasons. However, I do agree with the lebby problem, one more year I guess unless he gets lucky and wins more than 3 sec games. He doesn’t impress me at all…

What good is 'extra practice ' when 1/2 of your players will go to the portal? You are just showcasing them for other suitors (the ones that don't opt out, of course)

Well it’s working out so great so far.

Losing our future QB to injury

Was expecting more from him and your offense this year.
I really believe the injury to Mateer derailed what could’ve been a top 25 offense, even if it was always going to be limited due to the OL.
Look at what they were able to do with time and accurate passing in the CFP before they collapsed due to failure to pass protect. Mateer isn’t an elite passer but the plays were there and even with no run game you were moving the ball consistently on a top 10 defense.
I actually see a ton of parallels to the Bama offense this season not that it matters in relation to you evaluating Arbuckle.

Dudn't watch the whole game, but my big take away was that Wake was playing with more energy and actually seemed glad to be there.
State looked lifeless and disinterested.

Money; or lack of; is the problem.
No one will remember the bowl game. I can’t even tell you which one it was. It did give your team extra practices. It got them a little more national exposure. It wasn’t humiliating. Mississippi State this year was clearly improved from last season. The injury to Taylor was not severe; his mother posted nothing was torn or broken - he sprained an ankle/knee. He walked out of the stadium after the game with a limp according to the Clarion Ledger. And it may end up being a blessing, it may keep him out of the portal.
Mississippi State’s biggest problem is they spent 1/2 to 1/3 of what most SEC schools did on NIL this season. That is a steep deficit, one that most if not all coaches would be unable to overcome.
Until Mississippi State addresses this they will struggle. And no established coach will want the job, a job they know is doomed to failure.

Need the get Keenum to retire then. He doesn’t give a shite about competing or doing what it takes to compete.
