Notre Dame won the game of the century in the 1973 Sugar Bowl at the old Tulane Stadium 24-23 when a missed extra point proved costly for the Tide.
The next year ND prevailed in the Orange Bowl 13-11 thus preventing the Tide from winning back to back National Championships in 1973-1974.
Bama was 22-2 those two years cumulatively.
I think it was safe to say that the Irish were kryptonite to the Tide otherwise the Bear would have had two more NC’s.
If you go one more year (1975), A loss to Missouri cost Bama a possible three peat as they were 11-1 that year. 33-3 over three years with no NC’s. (That was incredible stretch by the way).
and the UPI does not count in 1973 since they did that before the Bowl season.

It's funny, they literally had a parade for beating Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. But it no longer "matters" when y'all spanked them.

Teams can come out flat, but an elite football team doesn't lay down & get thrown around from the first whistle to the last like Georgia did.

We may only be 2-5 against them, but the arse destruction we laid on them in 2012 ought to count for about five wins all by itself.

That was a thing of beauty!

So, Texas is not an elite team this year?

ND's record is messed up by their old teams. The new ND has been overrated for awhile.

LSU should have the lead in the series. We have gotten jobbed out of a win or 2 vs those frickers for sure the fake fg that we scored on in the music City bowl a few years ago. frick nd

Ray Perkins and Nick are the only Bama Coaches to beat ND. Bear was 0-4 against them.

What's the point of listing teams that have never played ND?

ALABAMA.....2-5 (28.6%)
4 of those 5 losses were on Bear Bryant.

Notre Dame is one of two schools that Coach Bryant couldn't beat.

I guess he was only interested in owning all the SEC schools.

Losing to them in the Orange Bowl at the end of the 74 season did cost y'all a crystal football though.

At least we lost to some decent teams.

10-1 #4 (final ranking)
11-1 #2
9-3 #15

We'll take the tie and take the lead in '24 & '25.

This is the team that should've been in the title game but everyone was feeling charitable for Bowden.
