Understand what your eyes are seeing. The game has changed. Florida, you do NOT have a "shut down" defense. We can run on you, we can pass on you, whatever we want. And you know what? You can do the same to us.

Now, I'm not calling Gator fans out, but they were just the last people who were clinging to the narrative. And then LSU mugged them with reality. The same way we were earlier mugged by Texas.

LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Missouri, Florida-you do not-I REPEAT-you do not have a shut-down defense. The game has changed. The offenses dictate the terms now. Now it's about , at the highest level, as Alabama demonstrated to the league first, all about having a dominant OFFENSE and a good athletic defense that can make key stops at big moments and get turnovers. That's it. That's the recipe.

Good luck to all of you down the stretch, but let's bury this stupid Narrative that no longer applies to the SEC.
And yes Pawwl, you can make this a topic on your show this week.

According to College Game Day Final, bama is giving up 27 PAG against SEC teams. Kook at who they have played. Has Saban lost it? This is the new college football, get used to it.

Offenses are becoming more difficult to stop these days with the RPO systems

But I guarantee you that a loud minority of Gumps (and every other fan base) will be on here throwing shade at OTHER schools because they gave up "too many" points in 2 and three and four touchdown wins. IF YOU WIN THE BIG GAMES 48-28, IT COUNTS JUST AS MUCH AS WHEN YOU WON IT 23-3 A DECADE AGO. (sorry for yelling too lazy to redo).

They need to not allow lineman more than 1 yard downfield is my opinion on this topic.

Offensive evolution has outpaced defensive evolution. The pendulum swings back and forth. Defenses will adjust to the more complicated defensive schemes over time

Defenses need to play zone between the 20s to stop the 65 yard plays and make teams work down the field. Tackle well get one big play on D to stop an offense and hold on a 3rd down.

That product the Cats had on the field last year would get sliced and diced by Joey Heisman

A stifling defense and ball control offense is so passé.. it sucked being stuck in the stone ages for so many years.

I’ve been saying this for awhile now. Long gone are the days of a 30-3 type games. The rules have changed to be far more offensive friendly and the new offenses are harder to stop.

We know LSU doesn’t. Your defense sucks - B12 quality.

Only I would want more of a sample size in representation. Burrow and Tua are having great years but you need that special QB to run those systems.

Would Coker/Sims have same success or Harris/Etling as Tua and Burrow in these systems?

Will the next Generation be as good or will SEC coaches adjust to it?

I think as others said it will evolve over time and as you correctly say be partially dependent on personnel.

I think that getting lost in all the narrative is the fact that Auburn still has a really good defense.
