Anyone know what the ATP stands for?
Association of Tennis PROFESSIONALS. I truly do not understand how the SEC can make public written statements that this is about Professional Athletes, when they currently have pros playing across multiple sports
And it’s not hard to define a pro for tennis when the very tour they play on defined it for you
Sankey truly is completely in water too deep for him

It’s their choice who is eligible to participate within their conference.
It’s your schools choice whether they want to remain within that conference or not.
You don’t get to tell the other schools what they can and can’t do, you get a vote when you’re a member amongst your peers.
If they say tennis pros can play and NBA guys can’t that’s how it goes if you are a member of the conference.

By naming LSU and its BOS, they have, by proxy, sued the state of Louisiana. Good luck with that.

Holy shite how are some of yall so damn dumb? You can’t single out individual groups to be punitive too and allow others. Being an organization doesn’t give you legal immunity to do that
Let me ask a simple question:
Can the SEC ban black players? According to you they can. I mean, Their league, their rules right?

I just loved it yesterday when they asked Sankey about the 91 professional G league players that are currently playing in the NCAA right now. This whole thing is such a fricking joke.

You are making a false racial equivalency when the league and all pro leagues exclude participants as a matter of course.
Can you jump to the NFL at 18? No.
Is that exclusionary? Yes.
Is that acceptable based on their rules? Yes.
Can the Cowboys draft an 18YO without penalty? No.
Could they start their own league where they can? Yes.
Has that standard existed and been upheld for generations? Yes.

The SEC’s rule on prohibiting pro players is now well defined. Tennis is not included. It covers only the major sports that matter, football and men’s and women’s basketball.
You would be well versed to understand the rule. And also to understand that this is not a war between LSU and Sankey. It is a war between LSU and the other 15 members. Sankey does not get to vote on LSU’s future in the SEC, they do.
You guys think Sankey is the boogieman. He isn’t. He isn’t going to do anything to LSU, he doesn’t even get a vote on it. You will find out the other university presidents are the boogieman.

The SEC has no control over the NCAA as a whole. They have no say over what the 347 basketball programs outside the SEC do.
They do however get to govern their own members.
Membership in the SEC is voluntary. You guys don’t have to be here. Sadly it is looking more and more likely it won’t matter what you think, it will matter what the 15 other SEC members think.

Here, I will help you. This is how the SEC defines it. Greg Sankey did not institute this rule, the 16 SEC members did, voting unanimously 16-0 in favor. Greg Sankey doesn’t even get a vote on conference matters.

Yeah I’m not mad at the local court.
That judge did what he needed to do politically, his career was over if he didn’t just like the local guy in Tuscaloosa did initially.
After that happened Sankey and the conference came down on the school making it clear that rule was a hardline and Bediako was out.
I don’t blame LSU for trying to get these guys in. It’ll come down to what they choose to do with the rules having been made clear to them as they were to Alabama.
If you choose to go it alone that way in violation of the rules you may have to deal with the consequences of that whatever they end up being from sanctions on up to the nuclear level.

This ruling isn’t based on race, other exclusionary criteria is legal and happens in every other league and conference every single year.

LSU is one of the biggest brands in college sports, obviously.
The idea that LSU goes away without the SEC is laughable. The idea that membership in the SEC is required for relevance is laughable.
LSU and the SEC would be damaged initially. All of the SEC’s realistic replacement options are less than LSU. LSU would have one replacement option that is better financially than the SEC. And that option puts the SEC’s top competitor deep into the South.
Things to consider. Are a backup tight end and an injured DT worth the impact to Alabama’s bottom line?

LSU is putting their head in the sand on the bigger picture here. Lane and LSU have made Sankey a permanent enemy now. I don’t see Sankey being one to forget no matter where the dust settles on all this mess.

If one school can flout the rules all of them can.
There is no SEC if they don’t draw a line in the sand because they will be emasculated just like the NCAA was.
I always figured Texas would be the one to test the longevity of the conference, but all it took was no one in the room in Baton Rouge with the balls to tell Kiffin to chill out to bring it to a head.
Had to happen eventually I guess.
