“The SEC folks were just ridiculous with their ‘four best teams’ chicanery"

Pac-12 writer Ted Miller yesterday took up the argument of the conference he’s supposed to cover (not root for) when he said:
“The SEC folks were just ridiculous with their ‘four best teams’ chicanery. When SEC commissioner Mike Slive kept repeating ‘One, two, three, four’ to reporters last week, what he was really saying was, ‘The SEC’s priority is maintaining subjectivity as the key component of the college football postseason.’
Understand: There is no ‘one, two, three, four.’ There are only opinions and computer formulas. You might note that no — zero — pro sports use a ‘one, two, three, four.’ They all have divisions. To advance to the playoffs, you must win your division or win a wild-card spot. In no case is there a subjective voting process or selection committee.”

Good point

Not really. No other sport is like CFB and is as uneven in competition levels.

Not a good point at all. NFL teams play, more or less, equally difficult schedules. If you come out of the SEC West undefeated or with 1 loss, it is much more impressive than Boise doing the same in the fricking WAC.

You can't use divisions, and conference champions when you only let 4 into a playoff.
You can't really have a 4 team playoff you can have a "final four", but with only 12 games it is difficult to categorize who is the 4th best team in college football as compared to the 5th best.
Taking the top 4 is the best option under this flawed system.

If Ted Miller is an advocate of doing it like the NFL, then it needs to be the conference champs of the Big 4 and add in two at larges without conference limitations. Which is what I have been asking for all along.

Correct. Imagine the uproar if a 14th ranked team wins the big east with two OOC losses and gets in over a one loss 4th ranked USC who lost the Pac-12 to undefeated Oregon.

Maybe I am wrong but didn't LSU beat the Pac-12 champion last year.....enough said.

I support the no conference champions model solely so one day we can back in undeservingly and knock out undefeated #1 SEC Champ Alabama

Exactly. Just look at 2010. Bama was what, 3rd in the West or 4th? And drummed the Big 10 Champion Michigan St 49-7.

ehh. I doubt Lsu will ever win such a big game as Bama did against Lsu in January. Ever.

Yep. Just kidding, you fail.
In a unionized league with streamlined roster building avenues and salary caps, you can argue it's fair.
But CFB is none of those.
Subjective is more fair than arbitrary groupings in this case.

What a moron, by this logic, the WAC champ is equal to the B1G champ.

I continue to be amazed at how some people actually get paid real money to share their opinions about College Football when they lack basic logic and reasoning skills.

Heck by his logic the NCAA Basketball Championships are a farce. Or at least half a farce. The Conference Champs are legit but the rest of you at large yahoos ... nope you suck ... what an idiot

This is why when folks compare CF to Pro I have ask "DaFuq r you thikning?"
NFL 32 teams 4 teams/div. play at least 2x a year to find out the best in the div to go to playoff. CFB 130+teams.....comparisons do not compute.
Ted miller seems a bit butthurt, DWI SEC stacked....that is all

Great comparison Ted. College football is just like the NFL. Except for the wide gaps in talent levels and the number of teams playing in each league.
NFL - 32 teams
NCAA FBS - 120 teams
