You can put whatever filter you want on a picture. In the real world a sunset isn't Tennessee orange. I've seen plenty, pics are unnecessary.

Ask Dog State about it. They switched to the Adidas bats a couple of years ago and promptly plummeted to the bottom of the conference in hitting.

Enjoy.

Dummy, our Baseball team uses Easton.
Men's and Women's Track teams uses Nike. (yeah Nike, more revenue stream, so add this to the Adidas deal)

Being called something and being something is not the same.

The stadium and the fans are just a small part of our university and fanbase doing everything in our power to put us in a position to succeed. That is why we went out and took your DC. That is why we took adidas's big money or not Nike's pennies. That is why when the Eagles and Trojans come after our HC we give him 5 M.

I would be worried if we weren't doing that. Say if our coaches were getting stolen, if we were hiring retreads, if we settled for a crappy OC, if we left games early and didn't truly support out team, and if we were stuck in a state that cannot fund its own state universities. Good thing A&M doesn't give me things to worry about.

They have to pay the school more to field an inferior product.

Considering our prominence in collegiate track, I expect Nike paying us pretty well just for track.

There are no filters on those photos, genius. At least we don't have the same color scheme as like 15 other teams.

This dude mad as hell.

I don't give two shits about aTm or it's "new deal" I'm just saying it's beyond moronic to brag about signing with a second tier equipment provider. Top schools are jumping off that brand like rats off a sinking ship, of course they have to pay more.

If we are putting it into tiers. Tier one would include A&M and not UT. We got paid. You got paid a significantly smaller amount.

If Bama signed with Adidas, I'd just say frick it, and start buying my gear at a flea market. It's all the same at that point.

Meh. Brand identity is a fluid situation. Domination by a sole brand is all people under 30 understand because Michael Jordan and Nike changed the game. And then Phil Knight coincidentally loved college football and wanted to bring it to a school without any football success, so their marketing team went in to full overdive again. Teams like Alabama and USC that are college football blue bloods are okay with being in the top brand even if it's less money, only further reinforcing this concept of a top tier. The success of Michael Jordan shoes was even so pervasive that top stars like LeBron James were willing to take less money to be a part of it. The idea of "second tier" is one that's a result of marketing and market share dominance. Not an invalid belief, but one that only seems concrete because of lack of exposure to anything else. Nike's success story is also one of the changing dynamic of sports sponsorships in general. Being the official brand of a league, before TV and Jordan, used to matter. Does anyone know or care that Adidas just had exclusive rights to NBa jerseys? No. Back in the day such things matter, but now... It really doesn't. Nike basketball and the Jordan brand account for 90% of basketball shoes sold in this country. And that's not hyperbole, that's the real number.

Yet, we might make sure we also understand the original point. This is a fluid situation. Under Armour has picked some great athletes, and Nike is so locked in selling to schools below value that Under Armour is picking up big name brands that still make them money easily outbidding Nike. Adidas is certainly lagging behind that, but the idea of "Nike or bust" is going to end soon if Under Armour and even Adidas make smart moves.

For what it's worth, Adidas gives us special attention they weren't giving Tennessee, and while Nike or Under Armour would probably be preferred by some kids, being Adidas's pet project is a unique situation that probably ends up benefitting us more. We are in a rebranding ourselves with the SEC move, and our Adidas move is certainly not a bad one, or one that can simply be derived as "second tier".

You got a first tier deal from a second tier provider.

We got a first tier deal from the best provider.

And again, Adidas HAS to pay more. No one wants to be in business with them.
And again, Tennessee could have resigned with Adidas for much more money. We chose not to, because the benefits of being a Nike Elite school far outweighs getting paid more by the lesser provider, Adidas.

If you think you would have gotten Nike Elite status, reserved for just a few schools, then you're delusional. Like I said, y'all made a good decision staying with Adidas because you're one of the top programs signed with them at this time.

We're a more valuable program apparel and marketing wise. We're also on the incline. There's no tangible argument that Tennessee would get a better offer
