Wouldn't doubt if Sunbelt Billy would happily take the buyout package to move on from UF. Everyone including him know it's not a good fit.

If you can get Urban, you don't put conditions on wins/losses for Billy.

You hire Urban regardless, let him recruit a bunch of murderous kids and one Christian QB and go win it all.

NIL might actually cause real health problems for Urban

Florida is the this generations Nebraska.

They kind of remember them being good, their parents do. But they just aren't good, no matter who they hire.

Hugh Freeze turned down Florida, Sexton got him the job to replace Muschamp, it was a done deal, but for whatever reason he backed out at the last minute.
And this is 100% fact.

That Florida job is no as good as it once was.... Firing coaches the year after they win the division.

Just mehhhh

I thought McElwain and Mullens were really good coaches. Hell so is sunbelt Billy. Gotta ask yourself why are these guys winning until they get to Florida?

heard the Freeze to Florida from the mouth of someone he was going to bring on with him at Florida. Tyler Siskey.

Tommy Tuberville left Ole Miss for Auburn and Dan Mullen left MS State for Florida. There may be others but those are the two I can think of.

McElwain was 22-16 at Colorado State before coming to Florida. That's barely mediocre. Almost trash level.

Mullen was 69-46 at Mississippi State. That's mediocre. Turned out better at Florida until that last season where he phoned it in since he didn't get an NFL job and refused to recruit.

Face it, the downfall of Florida coaches is no one's fault but their own.

Muschamp didn't have a clue about offense or who to hire to run it.

McElwain was just inept.

Mullen was too stubborn and more loyal to his friends as coaches in lieu of the university and the team.

Napier is too arrogant about his offense as he believe it's the best that's out there when in reality, it's about as predictable as a high school offense. Also, he and his OL coach doesn't know how to recruit an OL.

I've heard countless rumors of varying degrees of credibility about Florida football over the decades and never heard this one about Hugh Freeze. I'm reasonably certain you were fooled.

Paul Dietzel coached at LSU (won a natty) and later coached at South Carolina before they joined the SEC as well.

When it was rumored I did not believe it.

But now… 10 years later the guy has no reason to lie about it.
