I’ll go look that one up, but do you have a quick link to it?

Just tried to look it up and everything is about last night

Pull up YouTube uga vs alabama 2024 full game.

1 minute left. 2nd and 8. The defender is actually worse. He extends his arms and clotheslines the receiver who leaves his feet to jump back to the ball. He literally knocks our 220 pound receiver over.

For more salt in the wound to UGA fans: Herbstreit says the defender that he is lucky that he didn't hit the receiver... right as the slow motion replay shows the defenders arm knock the receiver onto his arse.

The reality? These are bang bang plays in real time. The calls on the field don't have the opportunity to replay 3 angles in slow motion.
Even if the flags are thrown, it doesn't guarantee points. And it doesn't change what the opposing offense could do as a counter.

ETA: Just got to the Williams TD. That being the very first play after Georgia’s TD is still unbelievable That game was something else.

Sure thing.

Reality #2?

Bama fans will bring up the 2026 no call for the next 5 years.

UGA fans move on. You obviously don't see fans bitching on this board like Bama fans with bad calls and hurt receivers.
If we did, you would know of this one which mirrors the PI that your fans are up in arms about.

Maybe not, but UGA fans aren’t calling it out to be a game changing call

I would never question the ref if he called this PI. This is all up in the realm of flags we see em’ throw.

I definitely don’t think it’s as obvious as the one last night, though. I can even see from that ref’s angle the guy thinking shite, ok that’s close but I’m seeing him trying to avoid contact and working through the WR. The slap there on the receivers outstretched right arm isn’t finished. Like he doesn’t just keep removing the receiver’s arm down and out of the play.

I know that isn’t how you see it and that’s perfectly ok. I just don’t think it’s as bad as last night.

From what we’ve been conditioned to expect, last night’s was as much of a sure thing this side of the Saints Rams call.

ETA: Is that gif not working?

That’s because you got a PI call on the 3rd and 22 play there

And the ball is objectively less catchable than the one at the end on a more obvious PI.

That’s the point here

So contact on the receiver is OK?
Especially the kind that physically knocks the receiver on his arse?

Noted. It is wrong when UGA does it. And doesn't knock over the receiver. And the contact is fractions of a second before the ball arrives.

I think putting on the breaks and jumping the way he does has just as much to do with where the receiver’s momentum takes him.

And again, I’d have no issue(other than just being a fan and hating the call) if that was called PI. Definitely could have been called and nobody would be able to argue it was a poor call.

And contact is allowed literally all the time. So yes, contact is allowed. The contact also contributed to some of that momentum.

That’s just not always auto PI. And again, there was enough contact and no head turn to call the flag. 100% agree there.

I do think it’s let go significantly more often than the one last night. The one last night was once or twice a season across the whole league levels of missed. And working through the receiver with head down and hands where they were is insta PI nearly 100% of the time.

You are telling me that a receiver jumping forward for a low throw takes his momentum onto his arse?

You are saying this with complete honesty with yourself.

Knowing that overthrows with arms up are the types of leaps that leave wide receivers falling back on their arse.

You don't have to be honest today.
But at some point, you need to grow up and look at yourself in the mirror.

I look forward to hearing you and your fellow gumps bitching about the no-call for the next 5 years.

You most likely will not hear about 2nd and 8 ever again.

Both fanbases have become that predictable.

I would because that is not PI.

He never grabs anything on the Georgia player. He's just waving his hands around trying to deflect the ball.

The Georgia player is the one who drops his arms down trying to catch the ball.

The defensive back has to grab?

I don't recall any grabbing on the no call last night.

Interesting that your definition of PI requires grabbing.

Or is pushing (extending the arms with contact) what draws the flag.

You gumps are getting flat retarded with this shite.

Just stop.
The only people who bitch about refs are losers.
Refs suck. Always will. Don't get sacked on 3rd down.

Funny, even though that's true, they've beat your team 2 of last 3, With a rookie SEC Coach, low scores or not

"Finish the sentence. The reason Bama only scored 3 points was due to PI. Would have been a TD otherwise."

What makes you think Ol' Butterfingers would have caught the ball? Gumps were maybe 50% reception rate.

I am talking about the gif he posted to be clear.

The defensive back had to impede the receivers ability to catch the ball. That didn't happen. His arm was waving, so he wasn't making actual contact with the guy, aka grabbing the guy.

The ball came in low so the receivers arms were moving in that direction for that reason. The defender has every right to try and block or make a move on the ball, which is what he is doing.

It's a good no call.

And contact is also not automatically a pass interference either. It has to be contact that impedes the receivers ability to catch the ball.

If the defender turns their head, then all bets are off because the defender has equal right to the ball as the receiver. That didn't happen in the gif he posted obviously, I'm just saying to be clear on how the rules are based on things other than straight contact etc.

There is no magic bubble around receivers.

I don’t quite think he jumps forward.

But I would have to go look at it from another angle again. I do think some of the contact causes the momentum.

I think if there is no defender there(hypothetically), the receiver would catch that ball backpedaling and either do those choppy arse backpedals to gain some more yards or get into the endzone or he’d try and eventually fall on his butt.

I would not waste your time with this, I promise.

Is the ball not underthrown?

I would have to agree with this. You’re not wrong.

But there’s a reason and it’s what we’re talking about right now

I’d have to say we’d probably be talking about last night’s PI for years and years even if the rest of the game was flawless from the refs.

But the no review targeting and the overturn INT will ensure Alabama fans never let it die. And I find that very understandable.

Can’t have pass interference if ball isn’t catchable.

Uncatchable? The pass hit his leg as he was getting knocked down to rhe ground ...lol

All credit to Georgia though. They're probably the favorite to win it all and Stockton is playing at an elite level. They took advantage of all the good breaks and bounces that went their way and got it done.

On the other hand, the fact that Bama literally didn't get a single bounce or break go there way and was only one play away from winning bodes well for this Alabama team.
