You don't know it, but you're actually making your team look worse.

I prefer the "Moo State can compete with LSU" myth.

The Muffin Man is 6-30 (.167) against ranked opponents in his tenure in Dogsville.

This is the worst in the SEC, and 5th worst of all active coaches in the country.

Only Butch is even on the list, coming in at .230. And he's about to get run out of Tenner on a rail.

Well, two things:

MSU is

1) currently ranked #6 in Total D, Vandy is #3 btw
2) 247Sports has them ranked #11 in the SEC for College Team Talent based on composite rankings of current roster

So, there's that. But nice try.

Gus Malzahn and Gene Chizik completely abandoning the state of Mississippi in recruiting had allowed State to rise. Auburn has signed more high school players from the state of Colorado than Mississippi over the last 7 years.

Or 12 four stars and 1 five star. It's all in how you phrase it, right?

Would be hard for either to get to 10 wins, but the potential is there. Each will likely lose to Alabama, so that only leaves room for one other loss. Auburn is a threat they both play, and both have tough teams in the East with MSU facing UGa and UK and LSU facing UT and UF. And of course, there's Ole Miss and Arkansas, who have given both teams problems over the years. A&M may be dead man walking if the last 5 quarters are any indication, but we'll have to wait and see. It took something to get a 44-10 lead on UCLA on the road, so they have the potential to get it back unless they can't recover from the loss of their QB.

Fletcher Cox's little brother?

Anybody can land a legacy, that's not impressive recruiting. Even Iowa was able to land a 5* DE top 10 overall recruit becajse his dad was a walkon in the 90s that roomed with Tim Dwight.

This I don't get, anyone ever saying. Mullen has done more in his time at Mississippi State than any other coach in our school's history.

This

Mullen is a great coach. No matter who coaches at State they will have good years here and there but in the long run they will have a losing record in the West.

I agree State has a good team. But this is like Ole Miss boasting about Offensive stats 2 games in. Most teams don't play anyone and some teams, like Bama, OSU, Clem, have played top teams. So stats really mean nothing at this points. I hate when LSU people post about Etling's efficiency. It means nothing at this point.

Gonna be a good game with LSU, between two of the top five SEC teams, winner will almost certainly have a 10 win regular season.

agreed! I hate this matchup every year. My 2 teams.

Based on recruiting rankings, you are wrong ..

3. Louisiana State
4 5-stars
48 4-stars
30 3-stars

11. Mississippi State
1 5-star
15 4-stars
56 3-stars

Disagree. Dan is the 2nd longest tenured coach in the SEC (9th year). His current record is 63-42. Besides his 1st, he has had ONE losing season. He has taken MSU to 7 bowls in a row; 5th longest current streak in the SEC.

He won't end up with a losing record .. even in the west.
