I'm jealous as hell of that environment.

Props to the Auburn faithful.

Having the students positioned where they are makes a hell of a difference. Honestly it riled up the older crowd as well. It’s pretty remarkable as they’ve been a difference maker from the minute Pearl arrived

That facility was a homerun of a design.

I complained to high heaven while they were building the new arena

I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong

they are going to outgrow the arena if they keep winning.

We're a long way from my time at Auburn, when Lebo was walking around handing out tickets for free.

Does Auburn call all their facilities the jungle? Not that you can't do that, I just thought that was the nickname of the football stadium as well.

A smaller arena can charge more for a ticket.

They say there isn't a seat more than 43 feet from the court. Jeff Lebo was instrumental in the design and he pushed hard for the new facility to be built. He deserves recognition

I could be misremembering, but:

Even in the old coliseum carried the nickname “The Jungle” before we built the new arena

They tried to carry it over to the football stadium for a little bit late in Tubs’ tenure, but it never took off

When the new arena was built, they held a vote for what to name the student section, and “The Jungle” won out

I gotcha, thanks. It was a great environment and I enjoyed the heck out of watching it on tv.

LSU really needs to do something about the PMAC. It is a funeral home compared to that.

I also think it's more than just the PMAC. In Auburn, they have more fan support for basketball than typical LSU fans do in Baton Rouge. I think Auburn being a smaller town with less to do actually helps them in this case because it is the event of the day.

Tubs tried to get that going, ala The Swamp. Went over like a fart in church.

When I was in college in the 1980s the LSU crowd was a beautiful, raucous party. Too bad we suck so hard as fans now. Last week a dude literally, I shite you not, told me to sit down as I was stretching my feet at halftime. Halftime. SMDH.

The more fan support isn’t totally true. We’ll put 13,000 in the pmac when we’re good. They just decide to cheer once a year when it’s packed though.

It’ll be loud for Kentucky and go right back to being a morgue

Eta: to stay on thread- yes, Auburn’s atmosphere is unbelievable. I feel like there’s a huge drop off after auburn and bud walton
