Because most of them were on NFL rosters two weeks ago. And if any of them do join a team this season it will be during the season. The 2026 college football season is underway.

There should be a rule that rosters have to be finalized at a given date prior to the first game. After that no additional players can be added. I honestly don’t think anyone ever considered that someone would try to add former NFL players to their roster mid season. They should have seen what happened with Bediako and addressed it then though.

Luckily for everyone the courts ruled Bediako ineligible. I think some believed that his case settled the question of whether former pro players could return to college. Obviously it did not.

There is no way a podunk local or state civil judge should be able to make a ruling and have it foul up the entire nationwide $13 billion dollar a year college football system. It seems all these judges making these rulings are local elected judges. They are ruling whichever way they think helps them politically.

It shouldn’t be like that, but here we are.

It is funny to see so many people claiming they hate it, but then turning around and supporting their team doing it.

What about the baseball guys that come back to college for football after a short semi pro stint?

A lot of you are still in denial about what is happening.

You can’t have a league that

1) pays people for a skill
2) is the most lucrative place for them to be paid for that skill
3) has a market that wishes to pay them
4) sets arbitrary limitations on people’s ability to access that potential compensation


That’s the literal crux of all of this. It’s not NFL vs CFB. It’s not lane kiffin. It’s not 5 years to play 5. That’s all just shadows of the same item. NCAA became pro sports in the eyes of the law the minute players got paid. They won’t be able to tell people “you can maximize your earnings but only for 5 years. Even if someone wants to continue to pay you”

As long as players get paid, a court will eventually, and rightfully, rule eligibility rules are not permissible.

Yes, it’s terrible for college athletics. But the courts interest isn’t to do what’s best for college athletics.

i wish i went to law school so i could figure out wtf is going on, but from a layman's view, you can't force other parties into action they don't consent to. i guess this is age discrimination or something???
