Arguably, the most notable adopted proposal is the shortened transfer portal window, which moves from 15 days to a 10-day window beginning Jan. 1, or the first business day after Jan. 1 when the portal opens.
As for the practice rules — the NCAA says the new out-of-season activities model would replace the current rules with spring and summer activities. Programs will now be allowed to conduct two out-of-season practice periods. The maximum number of practices allowed is 21. Seven weeks it the longest the two periods can be, and neither can exceed five weeks.
Changes to how the season is structured might be on the way as well. The Saturday following Thanksgiving will continue to be the conclusion of the regular season. However, moving forward, the Thursday of what is now considered Week 0 will instead become the official start of Week 1. If the rule passes, Labor Day Weekend will no longer be the official start of the college football season, beginning in 2027.

Still dumb to have games to be played and portal open.

Because the Spring Semester of schools will start before that.
The issue is playing games past January 1.

Yeah as long as we pretend that academics are equal to the athletics here, we are bound to the academic calendars.
Was hoping they'd abolish the December signing day. That has become a major issue for programs who are playing in the postseason.

I see an NCAA logo and it immediately makes me realize they have no power here. 21 practices? frick you. We'll do 30 practices. Portal of 10 days? frick you. We’ll do 14 days.

I was hoping for a better playoff scedule.
2 weeks between week 14 and rd 1 is ridiculous. Even worse is two weeks between each round. Its absolute lunacy. No other level of football does this bullshite.
There is 56 days between week 14 of the regular season and the CFB championship game.
For reference, there is 35 days between the last week of the NFL regular season and the Super Bowl.

I would also support abolishing conference championship games and moving the postseason calendar up a week. But those games generate a lot of money so.
