Why would anyone want to play these meaningless exhibition games anymore and risk injury or worse?

The same can be said for conference championship games

I’m hearing that the Birmingham Bowl cannot even find willing teams to come play.

Agreed.

When the playoffs expand to 24, it's over for the bowls.

I have a friend who is on the Mobile, Alabama bowl committee. He told me those games don't even come close to break even and are a pain for locals.

They got Southwest Louisiana vs. Delaware this year. They might sell dozens of tickets.

Most of the players are underclass men. If they get hurt, they have plenty of time to rehab in the offseason. The upperclassmen and NFL draft eligible players aren’t going to be the ones playing anyways

Birmingham has Georgia Southern but can't find them an opponent.

They are going to have to petition to let a 4-8 UAB play if they can't find a willing 5-7 team.

Why did your team suck big time to get into one of those meaningless exhibition games? Do you think Kiffin will get LSU back to winning championships again soon? I don't think so.

When they started putting every 6-6 and even 5-7 team in shitty bowl games, it just turned into a complete joke. ESPN is a total whore for any sponsor that wants to slap their name on one of these games.

Cutting it down to a few premiere bowls outside of the playoffs would go a long way.

How many people will venture out to Charlotte on a cold Friday night in January to watch Miss State play Wake Forest?

Who will watch on television? Which Tier 3 sponsors will bankroll this thing? And for what? So 100,000 people on cable TV can hear more about their special brand of mayonnaise?

How long before the boards of these companies start pulling the plug?

How many weedeaters did Poulon sell in Shreveport in late December?

i love it! let them all burn.

nobody GAF about them with a 12 team playoff. teams will tell the NCAA to frick off or accept bowl bid practice then backout a week before. or petition NCAA for more scrimmage time.

Very few. Wake Forest is 8-4 but just doesn't travel well. State will get a few fans, mainly ones that live within a couple hours of Charlotte.

I will never forget the 2014 Orange Bowl experience. Thinking it was a big time New Years 6 game then paying $10 for tickets only to find better tickets on the ground outside the game.

Bowls suck now. It's time for them to go.

The only “fix” is to go to 24 team playoff and do away with bowls.

Why would any player or team want to do extra work for a meaningless bowl game. It’s playoffs or nothing at this point. There were too many bowls and some if not most should go away.

Maybe some people love to play football. Wimps worried about "risk of injury' have no business playing in the first place.
