My lurking here is over. Im sure that will be much to the dismay of some. I want to give my non-homer status of what I think LSU is right now.

While people may argue that our schedule has been less than impressive (no arguement here), there are a few things to point out.

Mettenberger has looked great this year.
But he hasnt played anyone with a pulse?

While this may be true. He has taken huge strides under Cam Cameron, and has looked better in his 4 games (cupcakes or not) as he did in any cupcake games last season. Im not ready to crown him SEC QB #1. I still dont think he is even in the same ballpark as Johnny Manziel, but he is much improved and gives us fans something to be excited about.

Our running game is looking great. Maybe we arent statisically better than WILCO and you could argue Gurley is better than Hill, but Hill has been solid. Very impressed with his AU performance. Will hold judgement until we play a great defense (TCU was not a great defense no matter what my fellow fans say)

The defense is looking good. We lost alot of speed and power hitters to the NFL last year, but the deep recruiting has lead to another good class. Not saying they are better than last year. Just saying the dropoff was not signifcant enough to be noticable up to now.

Coaching: Bringing in Cam might be the best hire in the SEC this offseason (sorry Arky). It amazes me how improved the offense has been thus far (i realize we havent played any "good" teams) but obvious strides in the right direction arent hard to see.

Les is Les. Love him or hate him. Hes entertaining.

This week is the first true test. On the road against a stout UGA offense. Should reveal alot about this year's team.

Sorry my first thread was so long. Just had alot to say.

Also, while this my be Tiger board material. I wanted to see what other SEC teams thought. This is my opinion and dont mind hearing others as to why I am wrong.

That's a lot of words when all you really have to say is LSU on the decline

Seems to me this has been the narrative since Miles took the reigns. More wishful thinking than anything I am afraid.

Acting as though bringing in an offensive coordinator is anywhere near the same league as bringing in a proven head coach is fricking stupid

The effect Bielema has on Arkansas >>>> Cameron's effect

I think Hill would be good for a lot more than 88 against Rutgers.

Most people here would agree.

Like getting an A in bowling class, the key is to throw a lot of gutter balls the first few weeks so the teacher's jaw is on the floor at the end of the semester when you start rolling 200+ on the reg.

I feel that LSU is the only hope for us coattail riders to continue the SEC's dominance on college football.

Bama just doesn't appear to have it this year.

Ya Mett looked good against TCU, the only game I really watched him in. Some of the playcalling was stupid and LSU should have won by more like when they ran 2 consecutive pass plays in the redzone before half time. However, even though the passes weren't complete they were where you would want to throw them, high where only the WR could go up and get them. He also threw a couple of back shoulder passes that were nicely thrown balls. My point is even his incompletions were technically good throws which is what you want to see from a QB.

Not sure about your defense but will know more after this week when both the running game and the passing game will give you a test.
