Not remotely close to what I was referring to. Try Sandy Hook for a starting point.

Making a good selection on entertainment is about the end results, not your own personal effort. But I think I can see the parallel you are drawing there.
I'm guessing also, that Clemson fans are considered cultish and this post fits in with that notion?

[quote]I could say the same of people seemingly offended by prayer in a public forum.
And I still can't see where they prayed for the team to win or play better. the closest was praying that the team members and coaches perform to the best of their abilities.
If I'm about to fix my car, or teach one of my kids something, am I in the wrong for praying that it goes the best it can, and that I do the best I am capable of? It is insignificant to my creator if my car is fixed.
People used to pray publicly, and together, about a lot of things. The current receding of religion makes it seem weird, I guess.

This is the truth. Downing this man for praying for a program of young men and coaches is a joke? This is the problem with our country. This man praying for god to help clemson is no different than a team prayer most of us on this thread have been in before? Not for the prosperity of a game but literal lives being affected by people like you who make post like this. Which by the way is the most cringe worthy thing I get from this whole thread. Whether big or small God does care about the things we do. Not to serve idols but to live a life bringing him glory in all we do.

Why would you put a post of a Clemson fan on another board on here. Nobody cares and it has nothing to do with the SEC

Not something I’d post, but I’ll never knock a man for praying

No, this is what I say when the person I’m replying to either doesn’t have the ability to contextualize the conversation or is too lazy to read the discussion. Neither is worth my time to engage.

I think you need to do some reading on the sovereignty of God. I can recommend some books if you'd like.

Explain this from the lens of a tragedy that occurs as a result of sin.
God ordains that sin and evil exist and uses it to bring about a greater good for His own glory. Joseph recognized this in his own situation with his brothers selling him into slavery, but we can see this clearly in the evil that was perpetuated on God's own son, Jesus. God not just tolerated it, but actually ordained that it would happen so that He would show His mercy on sinners and save people from their sins through it, and be glorified by it in the process.

I see you skipped my response
Yeah, I've got a tendency to respond to everyone who points a message my way, but I've been trying to avoid responding to everything because I am not trying to be quarrelsome and don't want to appear that way. But since you seem to desire a response, here you go.

quote:

we are not supposed to care about worldly things, so that would also mean we aren't supposed to pray to God for the success of worldly things
We are not to be consumed with worldly things by letting them draw us away from the Lord who made them (Matt. 13:22), yet God has made the world good for our dominion and enjoyment, within the confines of God's moral law.

There is nothing inherently wrong with people playing football. There is nothing inherently wrong with people enjoying watching people play football. There is nothing inherently wrong with praying for people who are playing football. Do all things for the glory of God, including praying that whatever the outcome of a football game, that it bring the most glory for God.

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." -1 Cor. 10:31
