Did you read it? And not cringe? It wasn’t simply a Christian posting a prayer on a message board. It was a Christian posting a prayer on a message board asking for God to help their flailing sports team, thanking him for their “Clemson family” and asking for unity among the fans.

Many in this thread have missed the point that it's truly bizzard to pray to any god or godlike figure for your college football team to win, play better, play with more unity, etc.
I take partial blame for that given my comments on the first page regarding references to pedophilia and rape.

Reference my Movies/TV Board comparison above. If you saw that same post about asking God to help someone make a Netflix decision, you’d think it was weird.

That said, Christians should always make their petitions with the caveat that God's will be done, as Jesus, Himself, prayed. We shouldn't be going to God as if He's a genie who only exists to grant wishes, but we can and should approach Him in supplication as a loving father, bringing to Him the desires of our hearts and asking that He would do what most glorifies Himself, even in football.
We can pray for His glory to be magnified by the game; for the safety of the players, coaches, fans, etc.; and for God to use the game to bless His people, among other things.

The fact that he went to a sports message board to urge the other members to pray to God to help the team perform better and for fan unity. The fact that he’s praying to God about the performance of his favorite sports team - for the players to make fewer mistakes and the coaching staff to be better coaches - is perhaps an indication that he may need to adjust his priorities, at the very least.
The fact that this isn’t alarmingly cringey to other Christians is mind boggling to me.

I think they are too busy being offended by the perceived attack on their faith (which is far, far from what this thread is about) to understand that - regardless of how many times it gets posted.
