They'd just make it the LSU Bayou Bengals and call it a day.

Actually, Fl. is the "SwampRats".

Louisiana State Child Killers
For stealing money from a children's hospital to pay players.
It's both ferocious and backed in history. Solid team name.

The raging Cajuns. No that one is taken
Swamp People. No, copyrights issue
The Creole? The Bayous? The Thomas Jefferson’s (for the LA land purchase), the Gamblers? The Bandits? The Carpetbaggers (for B Kelly), the Baby Hueys. The Kingfishers (Huey Long)
Ok I’m going to vote the Kingfishers. Yellow and purple kingfisher diving would work.

I have reconsidered. Since no one that I know of has a crawfish as a mascot and Louisiana is known as the state of fine seafood cuisine, we could always call them the Fighting Headsuckers.

I think you hit on something here. Based on what I saw at Mardi Gras and their love of homo erotica in every post, I suggest we rename them the LSU FIGHTING PHAGGOTS! This way they honor both their civil war and rainbow heritage.

I'm thinking my suggestion would cover that too.

Indeed.
They always bring up tube steak when someone mentions food.

I'd go with a name that was relevant more than once a decade.

LOL…..Ole Miss is still allowed to go by “Rebels” and only had to change their mascot from a Confederate officer to an animal - whether it be a Bear or Landshark……
Whereas the LSU Tigers have always had an animal as their mascot. Good luck with that Gump.
