If you are going to base it off people voting then you might as well do it American Idol style and let America vote. It's about as relevant.

It would be cool if Dabo turned down a playoff invite and offered to play a team like UCF or Washington State so people could see a unique matchup.

clemson already played Oklahoma, Ohio State, Bama, UGA and ND a lot and it has ND and UGA on future schedules.

The committee thinks a blowout loss to a bad team matters much more than when a team loses.

Not necessarily.

Committee mission is to make entertaining matchups and make money.

If they were truly serious about finding the best team, they would have something similar to nfl. Win your conference and your in. P5 winners and 3 wild cards.

It’s too subjective at thus point. Worse than the BCS ever was.

And this playoff trophy looks gay as frick. Bring back to crystal football.

This makes no sense. Their mission to to find the best team, through the best 4, and giving auto bids to all conference champs wouldnt accomplish that.

Considering there is no no direct head to head comparisons between ( in this situation )

12-1, OU, tOSU, & Bama... then you have to look at who accomplished what; I would say winning your conference would be pretty high up there. Just because anyone thinks a team looks better in their eyes; doesn’t mean it’s accurate.

I prefer conf champions if at all possible; last year I could win nderatand the decision because tOSU had 2 losses. That’s just wouldn’t be in play this year... just because ESPN thinks Bama is so great doesn’t mean the committee does. You also wonder how hard it will be for the members to sit in a room and explain to both the AD of OU and tOSU that their conf Champ teams with the same record as non-CHAMP Bama is not as worthy. The decision, if this situation presents itself will be harder than some of you think.

They look beyond record to compare teams, and I dont think they are going to consider Bama and the other 2 to be close enough to use conference title as the tie breaker. Winning a weaker conference simply doesnt make a team better than another.

This Pac 12 title game is a great example of why conference champs shouldn't get an auto bid.

In your opinion.

What if Ball State was 12-1? Would they be comparable to a 12-1 Oklahoma and Ohio State? Of course not.

You're taking it upon yourself to decide for the committee what "comparable" means, when you really have no clue as to what they would be thinking.

The 4 team is just there to fill out the bracket and get beat by the 1 team.

How'd that work out last year?

Or in 2014.

The #4 seed has won twice.

Sounds like the ones who are fatigued have to deal with it.

To get the Nat'l champion (a.k.a. best team in America) how else do you propose to do it?....this should be good!

Well for example if team A (the best team) beats team B (the fourth best team), it has already been determined that team A > team B. So Team C (the fifth best team) should get their shot at team A. Because in real life, we can’t really definitively say who’s the best, second best etc.

Plus you have the case where Team A beats Team B in the regular season. Then team B beats Team A in the playoff. Why is the second game more important than the first? Shouldn’t they play a third time?

But you’re an Alabama fan so I’m sure all that will go over your head

The problem is under the BCS there were sometimes years where 3 teams had a legit case but never 4. So now you have to fill that 4th slot with one of 3 or 4 questionable teams, the ones that don’t get in bitch. If we go to 8 it will be even worse.

Better to argue about 7,8,9,&10 instead of 2,3,&4.

“Best” team is totally subjective. Best what? Best record, best ooc schedule, best uniforms, who freakin knows?!

It needs to be conference champs. Similar to the nfl. Look st Dallas right now... leading the nfc east, the worst conference. They win and they are in. If they aren’t a good, then they’ll lose in the playoffs. However, they know what they have to do to get in. With the committee, we don’t know! We don’t know what will happen with a 1 loss bama. It’s complete bs. ND should join a conference for football.
