There mission isn't to put the best four conference champions in the playoffs. There are always gonna be at least one or two teams left out that are very good and that think they were deserving but it is what it is. Good luck to everyone this weekend that still have playoff hopes.

The problem is under the BCS there were sometimes years where 3 teams had a legit case but never 4. So now you have to fill that 4th slot with one of 3 or 4 questionable teams, the ones that don’t get in bitch. If we go to 8 it will be even worse.

This is why a playoff is a bad idea. It’s like Mr. Smith in Matrix 3.

Expect the Sugar Bowl if you lose and Oklahoma and Clemson win their games. No way the committee is putting two SEC teams in again. The country has Bama fatigue. Deal with it.

Yet it should be.

Anyone who gets beaten this late in the season shouldn't get into the playoffs. They should give another team a shot.

That’s actually not what it says....

CFP
Four Teams

The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents to decide among teams that are comparable.

So if you have 3, 12-1 teams... that would constitute comparable.

Let's accept that there are often 3, but never more than 3, teams with a legit case. Yes, there will be teams who feel they have a claim to the 4th spot, and complain when they don't get it, but as long as they don't have a legitimate claim to the 1 spot, no one else should care. The 4 team is just there to fill out the bracket and get beat by the 1 team.

Sure but thats not how the world works. They will just look at who gets in at #4 and say they deserve that spot more than the team that got it.

I created a topic with a similar concept. I said if you're worried about your schedule, you shouldn't be in the playoffs.

It got downvoted into the ground.

Can anyone point to any portion of the season where Oklahoma or Ohio State looked better than Alabama? Why should a week where Bama is playing 12-1 Georgia while the other 2 are playing a 3 loss team and a 4 loss team change that?

They cant. They are just scraping the bottom trying to find any excuse to keep Bama from winning yet another one.

Bama is out if they lose. The SEC championship is a playoff game.

It’s asking a great deal of the nation to ask them to watch a back to back rematch of Bama vs Georgia. Yes I still believe that Bama is still one of “the best 4 teams” even if UGA beats us tomorrow but you must factor in fan participation and fan opinion. I will be hurtin for certain if my beloved Bama loses to UGA tomorrow but if we do, we should be left out of the playoffs. I try to look at all scenarios with my Bama blinders off.

Then put UGA at 2 or 3 and Bama at 4

To get the Nat'l champion (a.k.a. best team in America) how else do you propose to do it?....this should be good!
