Yeah, I've seen a lot of hype for Emory Jones. Maybe the scouts are seeing something that I'm not, but he has never impressed me when I've seen him play. They also lose their top 3 receiving leaders from last year. They're ranked towards the bottom in the country in returning production as a team
At best they will operate like Mullen's Nick Fitzgerald teams, I'd think, and those teams relied on a pretty salty defense to help control the tempo of the game. They were also able to push a lot of teams around up front with the OL and the run game.
I'm not sure the 2021 version of Florida's offensive roster is really suited for that. However, Mullen is pretty good at adapting his scheme to his personnel, so I won't doubt that he has a plan.

Maybe, but they're going to have to improve quite a bit on defense from last year to perform even close to the level State did in 2017 and 2018

Yep - that's the conundrum they seem to be in to me. Their QB skillset matches up with his old ground and pound teams.....but the OL and defensive front 7 don't seem to match nearly the same way.
They are going to be a very interesting team to watch.

LSU is overrated & FLA isn't? The worst LSU team in 2 decades beat the best FLA team since Tebow in the swamp last year & LSU is overrated. Nice troll job

Alabama's schedule
Bama could drop 2 and still be in the playoff.

That is 14 consecutive years being #1 at least one week for Alabama.
I've never understood the fascination with counting weeks at number 1. There's only 1 week that matters to be number 1.
If you aren't #1 in the end, all that means is you were overrated at some point during the season.

do you understand the simple point as to how it's relevant to a program's success?

Has UTA ever begun a season unranked in the last decade?
I've never seen a school get off the hook so easy besides maybe southern cal.

Alabama can count 6 at the end of a season in the same 14 year span. Does that work for your sensibilities?

The Big 12 has been every bit as easy as the Big 10
Oklahoma has the easiest schedule in the Big 12...and it's 17th toughest nationally. Ohio State is 47th nationally. Not close

Nah. After aggy lost their shite when we Vince mcmahon walked into the SEC they don't have a leg to stand on. It doesn't matter what we put on the football field, we own them and they know it.

Didn't the Big 12 go undefeated in bowl games last season?
That sure indicates that other conferences were leaving the Big 12 in the dust

I'm guessing we were ranked after the ND win. Maybe the OU win too. Other than that just preseason rankings

Aggie wouldn’t understand either of the these.. but my answer is the following:
Program Strength & Perception
Even if you don’t finish #1, it is a very good indicator that the program is very strong and it is a very good indicator of how your program is perceived by the people that are voting in the polls.. It is also something that you can sell recruits..
You will now argue that history doesn’t matter..
and I will argue that it does matter..
Lets agree to disagree.

I’m going on record that all preseason polls are crap. It creates bias that carries on throughout the season. Plenty of years team A will have a the same record as B with a better resume yet be ranked well below because of preseason rankings.
Agreed. First poll shouldn't come out until after the first month at earliest.

quote:Not sure how you can exactly substantiate a SOS ranking before anyone plays a game. Preseason rankings aren't exactly a reliable metric. The last full season we had, OSU had the #1 SOS in the country at the end of the regular season. Michigan was #3. Penn State was #7. Iowa was #12. Michigan St was #18. Oklahoma was #20. The Big 10 has been a much better conference, top to bottom, than the Big 12.
Oklahoma has the easiest schedule in the Big 12...and it's 17th toughest nationally. Ohio State is 47th nationally. Not close
Regardless, I'm seeing OSU as having the #3 SOS heading into this season

Yeah the first ranking coming out going into week 4 when most conferences are heading into conference play would be way better

Reasonable Aggy [ON] [off]
We have a few very important unanswered questions, particularly with new faces on the OL and at the QB position.
Thus, I am going on record and saying "too high" until we get some answers.
Reasonable Aggy [on] [OFF]
Troll Aggy [ON] [off]
After the .500 record they posted last year?
LSU is gonna SUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!

Reasonable Aggy [ON] [off]
LSU is littered with talent up and down that roster.
With LSU's " Team Talent" at #6, you can expect a swift bounce back. Thus, "too low" for now.
