Madmax...I never said UGA was the consensus champion; however, they are listed as national champions that year ('46) by the NCAA. All polls are opinions and while ND & Army may have tied each other, that still leaves UGA as the ONLY unbeaten, untied team that year and the NCAA recognizes that fact and lists them among the 1946 champions.
It's up to each school's athletic depts. to decide which titles they wish to claim...UGA chooses not to claim 1946, but it is listed as a title winner in the school's media guide and websites.
By the way....Tennessee claims 1967 as a year they won the national title when they finished 9-2...the USC Trojans were named consensus national champions by a WIDE margin with OU and Tennessee having been voted #1 by only 1 selector. Tennessee's was by Litkenhouse, the same selector that chose GEORGIA #1 in 1968---yet, UGA doesn't claim 1968, but TENNESSEE DOES @9-2????
I'm not beliddling UT for claiming 1967 because that's UT's right to do so if they choose by NCAA statements. Therefore, if UGA decides to claim 1946 any time in the future, they have that right. I only listed 1946 in the post because I'm not going by titles claimed, but those listed by the NCAA.
UGA doesn't do what Tennessee does in claiming everything in sight ('67 a case in point and '50--which OU is the consensus winner, and TCU was named the '38 winner by AP and other selectors, sharing the title with UT and Notre Dame).

OP left off several for Alabama.
I left off the nationals for Bama and anyone else 'cause it wasn't necessary. Plus, Bama's won too many of them it would take up so much space.:)

He left out Florida's and Tennessee's consensus titles from 1996 and 1998 but leads off with two mysterious titles Wally Butts' parents awarded Georgia.

Tie) LSU, Florida: each won 3 SEC titles and 2 national titles
tiebreaker is LSU fans called tebow before the game on his cell phone and said we are going to beat you. Tebow called the LSU fans back during the game and said "you aren't beating me". Then at the end of the game LSU fans told tebow in person that we beat you.

That would be one HELL of a wild swing. monteg couldn't formulate complete sentences even... RatRod may be a shitposter, but he's at least coherent most of the time.
I remember a poster who's name or location said something about Cali that he could be an alter of, but can't think of them. Maybe the one with the Loch Ness monster post somewhere?

edit to note for those who don't want to click it: ncaa.com shows UGA with 1, that in 1980

these threads crack me up because the rant has assured me that lsu football started in 2000.
also, does anyone remember the last time lsu won less than 8 games in a season? i think it was sometime during the eisenhower administration.

Runnerups: Georgia Tech, Tennessee also won 2 SEC titles; although UT won 2 national titles and Georgia Tech won 1 national title, the nod goes to Ole Miss because they had NO losing seasons (UT had 2 losing seasons, GT had one losing season), and Ole Miss won the most games (80).
1957?
