How is Auburn the "nicest" campus in the SEC.
“Nicest” as in friendliest? Or “nicest” as in most attractive? If the former, I agree. If the latter, I’d pick Vandy.

Skybar is one of my least favorite places on earth many of my AU friends agree

Well, I was only there once, but I don’t know how anyone could hate that bar. It had something for everyone.

Hip hop / night club.
Live country music bar.
Sport bar.
Patio/rooftop bar
Tons of talent.

What’s not to like?

I agree with him too! Some of our fanbase do act "cultish" and holier than thou"...as much as it pains me to say.
Auburn has improved dramatically over the last 15 years. Great restaurants and bars there now.
And the campus is a lot prettier now because so many of the trees have matured! (Hurricane Opal in 1995 pretty much knocked down every tree on Auburn's campus).

Opal was a CAT 3 hurricane when it was inland some 200 miles from the Gulf Coast in East Alabama.

I think it had weakened to a Cat 1 by the time it blew through Auburn. We had a blast though. Dropped some acid and drove around in a hatchback as it passed through. Good times.

Not sure it was still a Cat 3 that far north but it was definitely a buzz saw from the Navarre Beach/Destin area all the way up to roughly the Chattanooga area and all points in between.

I remember waking up the morning of the afternoon it hit and it had completely blown up from a low end Cat 2 to just shy of a Cat 5 overnight. It weakened down to a strong Cat 3 by the time it made landfall but it also sped up dramatically in forward speed as it approached the Navarre Beach area and raced up from there to roughly the Chattanooga area in the span of only about 8 hours with the eye passing between Montgomery and Auburn on its way.

Opal to this day is easily the fastest moving major hurricane to hit the western Florida panhandle in my lifetime. That thing was absolutely booking between 30 and 40 mph its entire trip thru the state of Alabama so much so that it was still about a 90 mph hurricane when it was passing directly between Montgomery and Auburn. It didn't get downgraded to a tropical storm until it was up in the northeast corner of Alabama.

Both my daughters toured Auburn when looking at schools...if they'd offered the best scholarship package I'd have had no problem with them going there. I don't let their crappy football program cloud common sense.

That being said...I don't think the campus itself is anything special. Alabama, Troy and Samford all "look" better to me...the latter two obviously smaller schools. Just honest opinion.

I was in both Opal and Michael. Opal was larger. Michael was much more intense. The saving grace with Michael was it was in and out in a little over two hours. I hope I never see another Michael.

It's great as long as you aren't a serious football fan.
