I mean, under what scenario do you honestly consider "are we sure they aren't going for it"...with a 3 point lead, 1 minute remaining, on their own 25 yard line. "Send the defense out there!". I mean, it was so dumb that I thought Gus's plan to trick them into leaving Waddle off the field was ridiculous. They'd never fall for that...I mean, they even saw the punter on the field...if you honestly thought AU was stupid enough to go for it in that scenario, shouldn't the punter that you acknowledge you saw tip you off as to the intent of the play? One of the all time stupidest moves I've ever seen. I'm happy for it though...I'm going to have nightmares about Waddle and I have no doubt that guy had a stake for the heart of Auburn family waiting had he touched the ball again. Return or not.

It's really not that tricky. Not much different than the quarterback taking the snap on 4th down and punting, which has been done for years. They were just trying to neutralize bama's dynamic returner.

You should study the rules. Teams already have the freedom to substitute up until the ball is snapped. What they do not have the right to do is have 12 men on the field when the ball is snapped. The fat boys need to run off, not waddle.
