First the speeding (AJC - "UGA has a speeding problem") article and now another one about "abusing women".
What did you guys do, piss in Alan Judd's cheerios?

AJC - UGA Football Program rallies when players accused of abusing women
quote:
In a single weekend, a 16-year-old University of Georgia football recruit broke curfew, drank with potential teammates in an Athens bar and ended up in a police station, under investigation for sexual assault.
Georgia signed him, anyway.
The school’s response to Jamaal Jarrett’s misadventures during a campus visit last year illustrates how its national-champion football program rallies to support athletes accused of abusing women, an investigation by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution shows. In case after case, the newspaper found, strong on-field performance appears to excuse bad off-field behavior.
When a top defensive player was jailed on a rape charge, head coach Kirby Smart let eight players go to court to seek their teammate’s release, the player’s lawyer said. This show of solidarity occurred even though the alleged victim worked part time for the football program.
A player charged with recording a sex act with an unconscious woman remained on the roster for a full season until he transferred. Others have stayed with the team while accused of transgressions that ranged from threatening or attacking their girlfriends to sexual assault.
In Jarrett’s case, previously unreported, a team official appeared at the hotel where the incident occurred and spoke with police officers minutes after the accuser called 911 to report a sexual assault. The official later sat with Jarrett during a remarkably friendly interrogation at the Athens police headquarters, where the detective investigating the sexual assault allegation spoke of “my beloved Bulldogs.”
The detective eventually decided not to charge Jarrett. By then, a month had passed since the defensive lineman had accepted Georgia’s offer of a football scholarship.
The football program’s handling of sexual and domestic violence allegations emerged in a review of dozens of court cases and police investigations. The Journal-Constitution identified 11 players during Smart’s tenure who remained with the team after women reported violent encounters to the police, to the university, or to both. In some instances, particularly those involving domestic violence, the police either filed no charges or prosecutors allowed players to plead guilty to lesser charges.
The exact number of accusations involving Georgia players is unknown. Many cases result in no police investigation, but rather are handled through a confidential campus disciplinary system.

Clearly, Kirby was #BuiltByBama.

Are we blaming the AJC?

Not blaming them, just interesting that they seem to have turned up the heat since the speeding tragedy and/or the 2nd title.

Is UGA the recipient of the Fulmer award this year?

It’s a weird slant given that Jarrett was 16 in the incident Judd refers to and the woman involved was 20. Flip the genders and the story reads a bit different.
The other aspect of Adam Anderson is also a weird slant. Anderson has still not had his actual day in court as of the time of publication and dragging character witnesses through the mud for being just that is some schlock reporting.
Judd has been on a witch hunt since he got screamed at for the Toppers stuff he did with Dev and Chandlers crash. He’s seemingly made it a personal mission to find a way to kneecap UGA football and to insinuate that the ACCPD is somehow in in a cover up (which is laughable given that they have routinely booked our players for offenses that don’t require actually booking someone into jail dating back to the early Richt years)

He has had a vendetta against uga since richt was fired. He never got over it.

quote:Very true. But this writer claims there are 11 separate cases on file for abuse or domestic violence reported to police or the school.

And yet no names are named.
Jarrett wasn’t charged because it easily could’ve been flipped on the woman involved for stat rape but his family wanted it to go away.
Tray Bishop left though it was later found that the girl he videoed knew he was taping.
JJ Holloman was dismissed and was not allowed to return despite multiple attempts on his part to try to transfer back.
RaRa Thomas had a domestic dispute with his younger brother and it freaked his girlfriend out.
Anderson I already mentioned.
So if we can name those names and if those guys can be charged/investigated then who else and why not name them? Why run a story without the confidence to detail all of it?

If they have name but aren’t naming them, they want to milk this into football season. He is purposely not using the names of kids who have been sent packing for obvious reasons.

The AJC’s best use ever was using the print to line the bottom of bird cages.

I guess that guy missed the part about being innocent until proven guilty.
They can't play if they are in prison.

Urban Meyer doesn’t hold a candle to what’s going on in Athens right now.

The Adam Anderson-related criticism is bizarre. He hasn’t been a part of the program since the moment the incident was known to the program.
Jarrett is having a rough couple months in Athens but hasn’t been charged with anything. I would say UGA should cool it with Gantt being present for police interrogations for appearance’s sake.

The incident in the report isn’t recent, it occurred during his recruitment.

I’d tend to agree, this is going to have to change. His relationship with the PD worked during the Richt years when 1. The ACCPD was on our arse for really ticky tack shite and 2. We weren’t winning titles. Amplified spotlight due to the recent success is showing that there’s too much of a relationship that’s been built over the years and some distance if not transparency is needed

I get that. I just mean he’s having a rough couple of months on the PR front

Also, Florida has been kicking off teammates for far less. Jarret is still on the team after making a racist comment AND being accused of sexual assault.
It’s almost like Georgia is recruiting on the notion that you can get away with stuff there. Absolutely pathetic and disgraceful.
