You graduated with honors. I can tell.

There aren’t many things I miss about playing the horns.
But one of the few things I can point to is the shite-talking during game week.

When I was an undergrad, the tradition was that on the last class day before the game, the editor of Texas A&M’s student newspaper, The Battalion, wrote a piece (calling out the sips) that was published on the front page of t.u.’s student paper, The Daily Texan.
The reverse occurred with the horn editor and The Battalion.

It was some of the most well-written, hysterical, intelligent and sardonic prose you’d ever read.
It was filthy, yet gentlemanly; insulting, yet articulate.
I only wish the internet had been around then so we’d have some artifacts of those literary masterpieces.

I badly want to laugh at these current, yet tired attempts of verbal fisticuffs.
But they’re not even snicker-inducing.
And there are only so many thousands of times you can read “fig,” “gay,”and “jizz jars” before your eyes start to glaze over.
