I'm excited about Wise, Turner, Thomas, Lewis...

The other CB's won offers at camp so I trust the coaches

our other DE will probably be a TE..

This is what I'm talking about, they cant even admit the defensive commits they have right now are nothing to get excited over about.

I am excited as hell about AJ Turner, Collins, Gibson, and Thomas. All of those will end up at CB/S and help us out tremendously in the future.

So, I am not sure what you are talking about.

Where did you hear this at? 1's right now at DT are Thomas and B.Jones.

DD Jones has been working at DE the past 3-4 practices more and more.

Last I heard Jones and Jones were the starters, he hasn't supplanted either one yet. Maybe if you want count him as a "starter" in the 5-2 defense you guys are trying to arrange, but other than that, havent heard of him being a starter in the 4-2-5/4-3 hybrid base D.

He has been rotating as a starter with DD in the 4-3 as far as I know. They have been using DD as a DE a lot more this offseason. Don't know if that is a permanent wrinkle or not but I imagine it has to do with us getting the ball crammed down our throats in power running sets by Auburn and Alabama.

We're in good position with Taiwan Johnson, Reggie Daniels, Mike Pennel and Seth Jacobs so the potential is still there to bring in some big time guys.

Actually a fairly impressive offer sheet

Just stop, there's nothing to get excited about overall with your defensive commits.

Yes, actually there is.

It seems personal with you thunderbird. Has an Arkansas fan pissed in your cheerios once before?

Inquiring minds want to know.

No, actually there isn't as I clearly broke down. Once agian, would LSU/Alabama/Auburn/UF, etc fans be excited about these players? Hell no. They are not getting very good offers overall or being rated very highly. We get it, all you guys have CLEARLY bought into the Petrino kool-aid on everything now, but these are not very exciting defensive commits by any stretch of the imagination.

What's so personal about talking about football? People always get their feathers fluffed on here when facts are brought to the table and they can't figure out a way to respond other than the typical "U MAD BRAH!?"

I understand what you're saying but you don't seem to be able to believe that none of us think we are going to have an elite defense. Its just not going to happen at Arkansas. Its not something new to Petrino. We have always had to recruit the proverbial diamond in the rough and coach them up.

If Willy Robinson and our S&C coaches can get these 3*'s with the occasional 4* sprinkled in to play around the #6 defense in the SEC like they did last year then we will be competitive with our offense to go along with it. Recruiting is not lacking on that side of the ball at all.

Why is it ok for LSU to have a sub par offense with an elite defense but Arkansas can't have an elite offense with an above average defense?

It has nothing to do with "buying into the kool-aid". If you like, I can play this game and say that you have CLEARLY bought into the star kool-aid.

All of these guys have good measurables and our coach (who knows a hell of a lot more about developing players than anyone on this site or on the recruiting services) feels that he can develop them into viable SEC players. If counting stars was all that a class amounted to, then what is the purpose in even playing the game? How players are developed for a particular system is a lot more important than how many arbitrary stars were given to them from one of half a dozen recruiting services.

Frankly, I don't go about the day trying to compare our team to LSU/Alabama/Auburn/UF because we aren't these teams. We are Arkansas. We have a different coaching staff, different offensive/defensive schemes, and different environments. I have full faith in our staff and if they see something in a player that Rivals or Scout or whoever doesn't seem to see, I will side with my coach every single time.

I am confident that we can contend with any team in the country this coming year, and that is with recruiting classes that are consistently lower-ranked than those schools you mentioned. That by itself shoots your little theory right out of the water.

Because, a bad defensive team never wins the SEC title or the National Title. Right? Right? Right?

Auburn, oh wait
