It isn't the head coach playing poorly at QB. It's the head case.
Crazy how many fans don't understand the basic concept that the head coach is responsible for everything that happens on the field.
I thought that was common knowledge but the rant has proven me wrong.
that "head case" has been developed for more than 2 year by (checking notes), yep, Sark.

They know their program better than me, but seems clear to me that Sark needs to give up play-calling and hire an OC. I personally don’t think a HC can see the whole picture if he’s that consumed with play-calling and the offense…. It’s hard enough to see the big picture in-game without that on your plate. Something as simple as “we can’t take a sack here” gets overlooked and not communicated if your main concern is dialing up the next play.
It also goes without saying Arch is having growing pains. Which should be no surprise IMO.

now do 10 years before that
So OU would lead 19-12 in 10 or more win seasons since 2000.

The fact that horn fans quote problems in terms of stars should provide a hint.
On a micro level, we can all name a 3-star who became great and a 5-star who sucked. On a macro level, the star rankings work.
If you make a list of the teams at the top of the recruiting rankins over the last quarter century, and the teams that won a national title in the last quarter century....it is the same list.
Sark decided to ride with a poorly ranked o-line and is paying the price.

People in the media went nuts for ratings & clicks, but most seasoned college football fans knew there would be some ups and downs with Arch.
No one expected him to be like this.
Arch started 2 games and played most of another game last season. We have a decent sample size from 2024. He is consistenly playing much worse than that sample size. No FBS QB should consistently struggle to hit a wide open recever that is standing still. This is significant challenge for Arch.
He is either hurt, has the yips or is staying up late with hooekrs and blow before every game. I have a feeling it is likely the yips.

So you haven’t watched manning throw a pass ?

I saw a Texas team that against Ohio St. Looked awesome. Should have won game if Arch was just a little serviceable. Defense was lights out.
So, what has happened in 5 weeks? I’ll give my thoughts, how about you.
1. OSU loss was more deflating than anyone realized.
2. Players have lost confidence in Manning. They’ ve checked out.
3. Sark play calling distracting him from being CEO.
4. Playing three cream puffs after OSU hurt toughness and players desire to be great.( how do you elevate yourself playing who they did?)
5. The coaching staff too loyal to Manning. He should be benched so he can have an attitude adjustment. Needs to earn back his fellow teammates trust.
I still believe Texas has the talent and can still make the playoff if they go undefeated. Their just a fractured team at the moment
Just a few things I’ve noticed from someone with no dog in the hunt.

On a serious note, Austin isn’t the best city for developing a sustainable football program. Too much shite to do and too many off field distractions
Norman, Tuscaloosa, Lincoln, Baton Rouge, Athens, nobody wants to live in these fricking cities. I’ll even put Columbus in that group despite its population. Everyone lives and dies football because that’s all there is

You clearly didn’t watch the game, they got pushed around until garbage time

I watched. You beat them in November and then talk smack about them Sarge

I’m all for ribbing Texas, but let’s at least be factual about it. There is only 1 team who has been in the last two playoff semifinals, and it wasn’t us.

Mateer being out is so typical of tx's luck, lol. Maybe Hawkins will do ok.

Elko is calling the A&M defense because his DC was so terrible last year. Sark can call a good offense with a serviceable QB

They're not mediocre.
They're bad.
The SEC has ruined them. They'll start clamoring to leave it soon.

No, eyes wide open. If Texas had last nights Reed instead of Manning during OSU game, you really think they lose?
Posted on 10/5/25 at 2:14 pm to John somers
They spend the off-season in their own media bubble in Austin. For most of the year their offal has no aroma.
Then September happens.

I’m starting to think the Nil crowd funding Manning would be very unhappy if Sark benched Manning. Does nil impact coaching decisions?
