Kentucky had 3 losses in 2018. A&M, Georgia and Tennessee. In 2021, they don't play A&M, already beat LSU and have Mississippi State left in the West.

Technically A&M could still win the West. Extremely unlikely, but technically possible if A&M and Bama end up in a two way tie for first at 6-2 in conference. Would need all other West teams to finish 5-3 or worse for that to happen.

Bowl games don't really go to the correct placement of teams. A&M and Texas likely won't deserve the Sugar and the Texas Bowl would be more appropriate. That would be rational at least.
The reality though is if Texas and A&M played in the Sugar that game might get higher ratings than the NC game and tickets would start at $1000 on Stubhub for the cheap seats. Do they really want to throw that bone to the Texas Bowl? Maybe, but that's a lot of potential exposure and ratings. Texas moving to the SEC cranks up the drama level several notches as well.
