Agreed. This is about $$$ first, and fit is well down the list of priorities.

The typical year would probably see A&M and Miss State battling it out for the bottom of the SEC west
I know it's late but I can still see that hook showing.

Also as far as bringing viewers to the SEC, the Bama/A&M game got a 24 share on the nielsen ratings in Austin.

No, we have A&M so no need Texas. Will go for other markets when expansion occurs, likely a NC team and Virginia team.

No they wouldn't...and I suspect you have no clue

I'm a Razorback fan and I definitely would NOT be in favor of adding the Schlonghorns to the SEC.

Explain why a bunch of narcissists (wine and cheese eaters) would be a good fit for the SEC.
You have no clue. What would they bring to the table?
If you don't believe us, ask Nebraska, Colorado, or Missouri.
Surely you must be trolling.

To leave the Big 12 and break its GOR would cost $200 million. Even Texas can't afford that. Plus they don't have the political power to dump the kids at this time.
If there is anything you can't rustle our jimmies about its this situation in which you are ignorant to the details.

Texas' ability to go to the SEC died when Baylor broke ground on their new stadium.
Educate yourself on Texas politics and the mutual contractual obligations of the new Big XII.
People keep posting this without answering what happens to Baybay, Tech, and TCU. Y'all don't understand Texas. The state. A&M was only able to escape because our imperial governor is an Aggie and the other universities would still have the B12, thanks to daddy UT's patronage.
UT is stuck with the kids.

The Aggies are more similar to other SEC schools than the Longhorns will ever be. Since A&M has joined the conference, we don't need the Longhorns. Oklahoma perhaps. But not Texas.

I say kick Mizzou out and bring in Texas, OU, and OSU. They would definately fit in better
Posted on 9/20/13 at 7:33 am to beejon

aTm to the SEC was controversial because the B12 didn't want us to leave ... UT to the Southeastern would be controversial because the SEC wouldn't want them to come.

Exactly.
And OU is stuck politically with OSU until T Boone dies.

Don't want Texas fans and their astonishing hypocrisy. This is the same fanbase that criticizes the SEC for being a renegade conference while touting their old Southwest Conference days. The same fanbase that said the SEC was beneath them academically yet they welcome West Virginia into their league with open arms. Those delusional elitists still have the nerve to argue that the Big 12 is academically superior to the SEC even after losing two of their best schools to the SEC. Heck, the SEC was AT LEAST as good academically as the Big 12 BEFORE the additions and it now blows away the Big 12.

there's a possibility that Texas may be coming to us
dude.... Virtually NO CHANCE that UTerus would ever seriously consider this.
1. UT does not do well vs other schools if they don't have an overwhelming athletic advantage at almost all positions (See success vs OU as best example).
2. UT considers SEC schools as scholastically inferior. Yes, their athletes have the lowest graduation rate in the entire Big 12 but that doesn't matter. All about perception and spin.
3. LHN - Texass pride won't allow them to backtrack on this.
4. UT wants to call the shots. They would rather be biggest fish in a smaller pond. Want NO PART of SEC since they would be newcomers and low on totem poll.
There are another 20 reasons why this will not happen.

Exactly. Aggies always say they are a "cultural fit" in the SEC. frick that. We have no cult in our culture.
I think they just wanted to come somewhere where they thought being racist and cheating would be openly accepted.
