The university had no choice.

Requirements set forth by the Commissioner: SECSports.com

Good they should be banned from all sporting events.

A Coach Knox life lesson, places have rules and rules must be obeyed or there are consequences including not being allowed to go back to said place.

This. Some students are definitely going to lose their Athletics pass.. but I don't imagine it will happen via text. I'm assuming they will be brought in for questioning first..

Unfortunately, some will probably get caught in a lie as well, which will make the problem potentially 10x worse for them.. it's gonna leave a mark on some of them

As an LSU fan, there were a lot of the personal lights that got hurled at Ole Miss players, and I’m glad nobody noticed.

I’m actually against taking athletics passes over this

They were throwing crap into an empty end zone, yes it’s trashy but it’s not like they were throwing things at opposing teams players or the bench area

I would think written apology and maybe campus trash pick up duty for a few weekends would be a punishment that fits the crime

Taking the pass for an entire year is overkill

While I 100% agree with you, the letter from the SEC office seems pretty clear.. Hopefully CDC can negotiate a different outcome.. or at least try and pick some students that aren't seniors to satisfy the request.

At the end of the day, this behavior isn't acceptable for any team, and if you let the Texas students skate free, you don't have a case against the next group it happens to.. I don't blame the SEC office for their decision, but it's a stiff price to pay for kids that just F it.. and threw a water bottle.. like you said.. into an empty end zone.

But life isn't fair.. and the sooner you learn that lesson, the better off you will be.. but yeah, it's a stiff penalty if you really like all the other sports.

Texas Athletics wouldn't be sending out text to students about this.

I don’t want to see a single student lose their ticket. No man left behind. We demanded justice and we got it.

I disagree, there are enough Big Tickets that didn't get to request a ticket that will fill the void. They need to face consequences for their immature actions and they really did make the university look bad in reality.

I'd force them to transfer to Texas Tech for a year.

Oh the student section will still be full.. that isn't a concern.. and I agree with your side too.. it's a bad spot for all parties involved.. I just know that my dumbass self would have 100% participated because I was dumbass 18-21 year old kid who wouldn't have thought about the repercussions.. and I loved going to basketball and baseball games.. so yeah, it would have sucked pretty bad, and yes, it would have been my own fault.. but damn..

Maybe he should throw trash on the classroom floor to get them to reverse the decision

Yea, it would most definitely suck. Most students only get the Big Ticket for football of course, but not being able to go to basketball and baseball games would be sad. Maybe CDC or Hartzell could talk it down to just football for the rest of the year.

Lights?

I remember during the 1988 LSU-Miami game, I want to say it was in the 3rd quarter because the rain had stopped, when Miami scored a long touchdown. All of a sudden an empty whiskey bottle came flying out of the North end zone stands, and landed in the end zone right in front of Greg Jackson, I believe, who was trailing on the play. Jackson picked that bottle up and flung it right the frick back into the stands. I remember thinking I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that throw.

The hell it is

They threw trash because they didn’t like a call and got rewarded by having the call overturned. Fans have to know that’s not OK.

Granted it was a shite call, I just didn’t like that the trash was the turning point.
