The biggest things for me were, in no particular order:

1) the non development of Manning (3rd year with program....what has he or QB coach been doing)
2) non use of the portal for OL replacement & depth
3) non use of the portal for RB

Seems like coaching malpractice to me, but what do I know.

1. 100% coaching malpractice. Almost everyone agrees. Where the base is fractured are between those who want him gone and those that think he can fix it.
2. see above
3. see above

We all agree he checked out this season. Whatever personal stuff he has going on that to led to this, I hope he gets sorted out. Last season was probably the best team he's ever going to have here. Veteran OL, team full of draft picks, veteran qb, and he goes 0-3 vs kirby and day. Frankly I don't know how anyone can look at that and see that he's the guy but I'm just one jackass on a sports forum. The people cashing the checks are the ones who have investment in all this. If they are ok with him coming back so be it.

Speaking of which, did Vernon catch an NFLSU type break?

That seems to be the case, unless he suddenly got real busy IRL.

Getting banned for a few months

Hopefully he is out until after football season. If were lucky, xwing/.../menu2 went with him.

If Sark is smart, he'll take an NFL job at the end of this year. The UTrans schedule gets a lot harder next year and for the next few years. That's only going to tarnish his resume, and the crybaby fanbase will run him out of town anyway.

Give it up man. There's a large portion of our fan base that want to give out participation trophies and orange slices.

I know you're joking, but I've seen it with my own eyes at schools in other conferences when Alabama is on the road.

It's a surreal experience when your team has the ball in the redzone and most of the stadium is just sitting quietly, socializing with each other.

A good friend of mine is a longhorn faithful but he has objectivity.

As we were talking about our respective teams the one common piece we had major question marks was the Offensive Line for the Longhorns. Just didn't have experience nor did they even have time to gel. You just knew they were going to be a work in progress, even if they avoided injury.

Arch, we both thought would be better but neither of us expected a Heisman push. Because, even if he was a stud, he would have problems due to the offensive line.

I have no problem with the OL needing time to gel. That happens when almost the entire OL is new. The fact that Sark didn't think he needed help there is quite concerning and just more evidence that he's either a) checked out or b) just not very good head coach because he's taking on way too much.

If he's coming back I'd like to see if he could improve with an offensive coordinator and be an actual head coach for once, but he's way too arrogant for that.

After being owned and clowned so completely by Kirby in the 4th quarter last weekend, you'd think he'd realize he's trying to do too much. Arrogance is the downfall of many.

I don't think it's about arrogance. That's just his self image. He views himself as an offensive guru. That's what he sees as his core competency, and he doesn't want to give that up, especially if he intends to take an NFL OC job in the future.

I also think it has to do with the psychology of an alcoholic. If fundamentally you don't think you're good enough, then the last thing you want to do is risk giving up what you're good at.

Any texas insiders reporting interest in Kiffin? I’d think CDC would play it close to the vest if he did

Sark clearing the air

The rumors always create speculation about agents and coaches manipulating the market and appealing for extensions/raises but what about rumors that get started to make recruits nervous. I wonder if the latter is what is happening here and with the beat down we took on Saturday the timing was perfect. I for one am glad he is committed and makes really solid points as to why he is staying in Austin.
