Thank you. It was a bit weird as we had five rainouts (schedule in those days was 24 games) that season.
IMHO, that is the only team somewhat comparable to the Vandy team that was 26-3. That was phenomenal. Doubtful that will ever be matched again with the conference being so competitive.
Each team came up short in the postseason. ‘79 State team made it to Omaha and beat the eventual champion Fullerton in the first game but then lost two in a row to be eliminated.
And Vandy lost in a SR in an upset.
Post season college baseball is very unpredictable as anything can happen in a short regional/series.
They were still two great teams though.
