aTm would dominate that rivalry from here on out anyway. Texas saving their arse from embarrassment.

Well if that's what they want but I don't think it's a long term help for UTex just a short term one (they want to avoid losing). However, if the rivalry resumed UTex would get exposure once a year on the SEC Network with SEC recruits watching. Rivalries help exposure and hype and Texas being recruit rich or not you want a presence in SEC recruiting grounds. With the rise of A&M, TCU, and Baylor pickings are slimmer for UTex than they used to be and the smart thing would be to establish a presence in SEC Country.

which is how I think the majority of us feel about this. weve been saying the exact same thing for over a year

That would be the smart thing for them to do. The reason they haven't tried yet is simply pride. Truth be told, Texas didn't believe TAMU would pull the trigger on an SEC move, and their administration has been in scramble mode dealing with it ever since their bluff was called. Simply put, all of their history of how they've done business with us over the years no longer applies to the current complexion of the rivalry, and they honestly don't know what to do with the new status quo.

I honestly don't see how it benefits A&M. However, if I were UTex I'd be dying to resume the game to expand my recruiting footprint.

and further more, who cares what they want to do in regards to this game. weve made it clear that WE don't want to play and them coming around will have absolutely nothing to do with the game coming back whatsoever

I'd like to see them play again, but I'm not holding my breath. I know most of the Aggies here disagree, and that's fine. For old curmudgeons like me the game was more about the bonfire than the actual game. The younger guys here never experienced that, so the game was... well, a game.
I don't see it happening any time soon. A&M had the temerity to leave big brother and must be punished. A&M says "Oh yeah? Well we don't need you, either. Nyahh nyahh nyahh." Sounds childish but I don't see that changing for a good long while.

considering texas didn't sprint from the conference as fast as they could, yes

Look at how our brand has risen on a national level in the past two years. Yes, Johnny was a big part of that, but playing higher visibility opponents more regularly and in a greater geographic area without having to deal with the shadow our in state rival ineluctably casts has been instrumental in that success as well.
Our marketing is experiencing a boon that is unprecedented and much of that is attributable to not having texas as a conference mate/regular opponent.

I'm starting to believe Texas is actually scared.

I'm with you

I'll come back eventually. For our purposes right now though, I hope we establish ourselves in this conference more soundly first.
I grew up with the A&M/texas game, and was one of the few of my classmates that can say they saw on campus bonfire burn in person. It'll be back.

It wouldn't benefit A&M at all. There's no upside for us. It's like playing a bowl game against a historically bad team that's having one okay year. If you lose to them you tarnish your brand. If you win, nobody cares.
UTw, on the other hand, gets the chance to be the brand-tarnisher AND exposure to SEC recruits on the SEC Network, so there's a great deal of potential upside for them, but they can't look like they're begging for it right now as all that would do is reinforce the perception that they're THE program that got bitch-slapped by the effects of SEC expansion. So, for now, they lay low and wait for someone in power at A&M to one day make an overture, which they'd jump on.

So A&M was scared of the competition of UT. And because of that fear they went to the SEC West. Interesting proposition.

So we left the Big XII at a time when Texas and OU were at 15 year program lows and went to the SEC West because we were scared?
Interesting theory.
