You do realize Quinn was the highest rated player on offense by PFF in the SEC championship game lol.

I can't account for any kind of ratings anymore. SMU was just put in the playoffs.

Quinn has been a media darling for too long now. Once the media (the establishment) goes in on something, they won't eat crow. Idk what it is, honestly.

* He's no threat to run, we've already established that.
* He takes way too long to make a decision from the pocket
* His ball has nothing on it - leaving time for DB's to close in
* He fears injury - you can't kick arse playing scared

In fact, what does he do well? Seriously. What is Ewers so good at that separates him from pedestrian? That's what I'd like to know.

We should still do it this way, but nobody understands math or stats anymore.

Like I said, Georgia *improved* their SoS by *losing* to Ole Miss and Bama. It shouldn't work like that. Does anyone math nowadays.

Anyone who gets through this tournament and wins the NC will be deserving.

Objectively, I don’t think that’ll be Texas but no one will bring up this topic if so.

Only on an SEC forum would this be a comeback. I'm dying over here.

Texas can go a whole season and only play one ranked team.

Several were ranked until Texas unranked them.

Michigan was # 10 until Texas won
Oklahoma was #18 until Texas won
Georgia was #5 until Texas lost
Vandy was # 25 until Texas won
aggy was #20 until Texas won......

Side Note: it's amazing how people forget what QB's Texas has been stuck with over the last 10 years prior to Quinn. Had Auburn not missed 2 field goals, Texas would be SEC champs in their first year in the conference (in the same game that Quinn accounted for 90% of the offensive yardage).

TSRH ^^

It's easy to blame Quinn, but fact of the matter is if sideshow Bert could kick from the right hash the same as he does the left...we would be SEC champs right now.

I don't care about South Carolina or Florida being over-rated when the game was played.

You weren't the #14 team, you were an unranked 8-4 team.

It's exactly how it works.

Or do you think GT beat #10 FSU to start the season?

Hell by that measurement, Texas beat a ranked Texas A&M this year.

Only 2 other ranked SEC teams in final AP poll were Bama and Miss St, neither of whom they played. OOC was A&M, Clemson, and Ga Tech, all also unranked???

If we’re going by when they played, then Texas beat 4 ranked teams(Michigan, OU, Vandy, A&M)

I’d say the media has been pretty balanced on him. You see people that have your opinions on him in the media as well.

quote:

He's no threat to run, we've already established that.

You don’t need to be a dual threat QB in college football. He’s ran the ball for several key first downs this year.

quote:

He takes way too long to make a decision from the pocket

This is the first time I’ve heard someone say that about Quinn. It used to be that he doesn’t move onto his second read, now he’s taking too long to read everyone? I don’t think his reads take longer than average.

quote:

His ball has nothing on it - leaving time for DB's to close in

He can throw a bullet, in fact he’s done that a lot this year. At times he will float a ball when he should put it on a rope, but let’s not act like he doesn’t have arm strength to fire a ball into a window.

quote:

He fears injury - you can't kick arse playing scared

He did play scared after that initial oblique injury this year. It seems like since Arkansas he’s played much more like his typical self.

quote:

In fact, what does he do well? Seriously. What is Ewers so good at that separates him from pedestrian? That's what I'd like to know.

He is extremely good at RPO’s. He’s one of, if not the best intermediate throwers in CFB. He’s extremely accurate. He’s the best QB Texas has had since Colt.

Quite honestly there are only a few programs in the country that wouldn’t take him right now over their starter.

If we're going by final rankings then why do rankings at all?

Beating a ranked team causes said beaten ranked team to drop down or out of the rankings.

Injuries, lost players, that occur during the course of the season causes a ranked team to drop down or out of the rankings.

Rankings are and always have been a subjective popularity contest.

I'd argue that SC, right now, should be ranked ahead of four playoff teams. Indiana, Notre Dame, Boise State and SMU. But that's not how any of this works.

So yeah. Count wins over ranked teams as wins over ranked teams, if they were ranked when they played.

Let me put it in easier to understand terms.

Let's say I banged out Nancy Humphries in '92 upstairs in Leo's apartment at Henry's (Charleston). Not a ranked bang but she was primo and on her way up at the time. Now, fast forward ten years and Regis calls her the sexiest woman in Hollywood ... now she's Nancy O'Dell. She's ranked #1. These days she's nowhere to be found and the last time we heard about her was when Trump was recorded talking about grabbing her by the pussy ... she briefly moved back into the Top 25. (Not claiming any of that happened, this is strictly an analogy.)

Do I get a ranked win? She was obviously underrated at the time, but she wasn't ranked. Today, she's still rankable for her age ... but it's all subjective. And I ended up marrying her Clemson roommate/suitemate. Retrospectively two ranked wins.

SC was a hard fought ranked win for UGA in '80. SC would have won that game had it been played in Columbia like it was supposed to be ... rather than a third game in a row in Athens. So why any UGA fan would downplay the win is beyond me.

Take the ranked wins in life. They get to be fewer and fewer over time ... and that'll be true for UGA soon enough.

In the meantime I was pulling for UGA both times over Texas. Texas is overrated but I'll be pulling for Texas to beat another overrated team, Clemson, this weekend.

Take the ranked wins but realize, it's all bullshite. It's all subjective. It's never been more subjective than it is right now. Rankings mean absolutely nothing.
