Port Neches Groves high school in Port Neches had an 18 year waiting list for season tickets at one time. Still have a long waiting list. High school is under the radar absolute king.
Mid County Madness is one of the best rivalries in high school football. Pure hatred for one another separated by basically a set of train tracks

mom and dad had season tickets on the 45 yd line six rows from the top at The Reservation starting when I was 1st grade back in ‘72 and held them until they moved to Waco in 2016. i grew going to every game home or away except for the Friday before opening day of duck season. that changed when i was playing my jr and sr year.
i can’t think of a single home game i played in where the stands weren’t full, oftentimes during away games, too. and we sucked my two years playing for The Tribe.
it’s goddamn near a religious cult at PNG. as far as i know, to this day they still hold the all-time attendance record in Texas for a HS football game (62,000) set back in the 1977 state championship game in Texas Stadium (PNG v. Plano), and that’s a 250+ drive away.

Whole towns shut down for Friday night high school games and it’s been that way for years, though might be down a little.
I played for Midland Lee in the late 90s and watching/playing games in our district was basically religion.
I’d agree
1a - College
1b - High school
5 - NFL
NFL hasn’t been important since Aikman, Smith, Sanders, etc. I believe the NFL has been losing viewership across the league. Nothing unique to Texas.

I'm not a native Texan, although I did go to high school in Texas and live here again now.
College
*big gap*
NFL
The end.
I don't give 2 craps about high school sports of any kind.

High school football is big when you have kids/family involved in it. That includes the band, cheerleading and even just having kids in school.
There’s really not that much interest once everyone graduates and moves on. My parents had season tickets for probably 15 years. I was the youngest kid and once I played my final game they didn’t renew

Nice
My mom was Westbrook class of ‘83. They won state the first year the school was formed in 1982, Remember the Titans style
But I’m sure you knew that. Crazy the amount of athletes and coaches that came from the Golden Triangle.
