Btw, Hispanics make up 39% of the Texas population now.

In Alabama, they make up 4% of the population.

So 25% of your student base being Hispanic means your school is still greatly less considering your population %.

Meanwhile, Alabama has a student body with 5.3% Hispanic. Meaning, Alabama has a higher % of Hispanic students than it's population.

So aside from the ignorant racism of this topic, Texas A&M is the school that has them under represented, not Alabama.

I did not realize how large the latino population was at A&M

The first thing you might want to realize is that hispanics live in Texas, latinos live in California.

I eat Tex-Mex once a week. I know things Ese.

Now that the HACU and DOE recognize A&M as a Hispanic serving institution, its time for the rant as well. We're a bastion of diversity and excellence never before seen in the South Eastern Conference.
You would still be Mexico if it were not for a bunch from Tennessee.

There is a reason your largest city is named after a former Tennessee governor.

As for your "diversity"...who gives a damn? Maybe you can kick all the White people out of your school and return all the money to White donors. Put that diversity to the true test.

And as such, the Hispanic-Serving Institution has more titles in the SEC than the football team. What's wrong, jimbo hates tacos?

There's actually an old federal law... anywhere an American finds bat gauno (on islands etc) we can stake a claim. (For real).

ETA:

quote:

The Guano Islands Act (11 Stat. 119, enacted August 18, 1856, codified at 48 U.S.C. ch. 8 §§ 1411-1419) is a United States federal law passed by the U.S. Congress that enables citizens of the United States to take possession, in the name of the United States, of unclaimed islands containing guano deposits. The islands can be located anywhere, so long as they are not occupied and not within the jurisdiction of another government.

It also empowers the President of the United States to use the military to protect such interests and establishes the criminal jurisdiction of the United States in these territories.

Of all of the universities in the SEC I would expect the Texas school to be Hispanic serving. Because Texas.
