“Our approach as we sit here today on February the 23rd is that we will operate at full capacity, that we’ll have full stadiums,” he said. “We’ll have the full experience. We’ll have the Aggie band back on the field. We’ll do all the things that we normally do.”

A&M capped crowds at Kyle Field last fall to 25% of its full operating capacity, set at approximately 110,000, due to COVID-19. A&M led the nation in average attendance for the 2020 season at 24,876 per game.

quote:

“There may be protocols,” he said. “We may be wearing face coverings. We don’t know all those answers yet. That’s the plan as we sit here today: full stadium, full season-ticket allotment, 12th Man student section full. People are going to be vaccinated at a really, really high level. That’s all the projections, right? The whole herd immunity, all those things, we should just be in a much better place.”

So do they really mean like 120% full? Because everyone knows they were fudging the 20% capacity all last year....

And yet, there were no game-associated outbreaks and no pile of bodies on campus.

The article notes that the state restriction last year was actually 50%, but most venues were capping lower. So, I guess they weren't really violating anything.

Didn't the SEC have their own restrictions?

Dan Mullen wanted something like that as well. It was painfully obvious that we don't always get what we want.

Nothing wrong with being optimistic about the way life is going. But life dictates the pace, not football games, even in the SEC.

If they lose a game or two early, they'll just have "Covid Problems" for the remainder of the season.

How is it even acceptable what their basketball team is doing?

Ridiculous but I guess everyone is cool with 2 bye games at this point in the season.

I think it was 25%, but a lot of people are wrong. It was a bad look for Mullen to cry like a school girl after he lost to aggy.

It is true that students clumped together in a few places, making it look like more than 25% if the camera just zoomed in on those places.

You're welcome to believe what you choose to believe, but it's not the basketball team giving the COVID tests or setting the contact tracing rules. We haven't had 7 players available in a month.

Luckily, they don't get to decide. The governor does.

They can't even keep their basketball team on the court. This has 100% full blown AIDS written all over it.

You have Covid for 10 days, now 7 based on the CDC.

Ya'll haven't played a game in like 3 months.

How does that add up?

Wheels will be up for reelection, and trying to protect his right flank in the Republican primary. I expect him to open everything up by fall.
