If true, that smells like he was "coached" by Sumlin (his eventual head coach) to report the violation to the NCAA in revenge for his epic fail with Santino Marchiol.

Sure, just "happened" to run into the recruit while visiting the recruit's high school...

Show cause is when a coach has to appear before the NCAA committee on infractions every 6 months to prove they are following NCAA rules and not committing any further violations. It doesn’t mean that a coach must be fired or that the coach has to disassociate from the team, but a university can be penalized for hiring a coach with a show cause. That’s why Freeze couldn’t take another job during all the OM shite

This would be the death penalty for a school like LSU with their endowment.

Doesn't it have contact/recruiting consequences as well?

Hmmmm

Fun fact: NCAA executive VP of regulatory affairs is Stan Wilcox. He provides 'strategic direction to enforcement.' Also happens to have been Florida State's AD when Jimbo Fisher left Tallahassee for A&M.

So you're telling me we snuck in an extra 12 min per practice for stretching during the spring and then Jimbo did what every single head coach does and just happen to run into a recruit during a dead period. Oh the humanity.

Sorry your coach is a blatant cheater and got caught. There’s no place in college football for this stuff.

Just follow the rules like the rest of us!

Wilcox hired Willie Taggart. That alone should render any judgment he makes invalid.

I feel sick reading this. A&M should feel deeply ashamed for this disgusting act. I hope they never win again!

It was obligatory. You hire Ross Bjork, the NCAA cometh.

Yet more proof that the stench of Ross Bjork has permeated the program - now they are repeating Ole Miss's excuses.

The violations in question predate Bjork by 18 months.

Wow that means Scott Woodward allowed this. He should be banned from the NCAA and fired on the spot.

January 2018 - February 2019.

Woodward was AD the entire time. Not only did he allow it, he directed it.
