Marvelous. He’d be an idiot to not take it.

Everyone happy now?

Probably just depends who you ask.

Regardless, if he continues to win, it won't matter.

This is not necessarily true. Hiring the wrong assistant to save one year's worth of players is not the right move. Hiring the right assistant might wind up being the right move. But I don't think this is just to save one year's worth of players. Yes, that is the obvious benefit. But it keeps the momentum of the program going. It keeps the buy-in of the fanbase and boosters, most of whom appear to be on board with the hire.

LSU proved it TWICE it’s stupid

Meh. Football is different, the situations were different (no portal deadlines), and the human beings are different. And nobody on here cares about the history of the LSU AD, but Bob Broadhead resigned in October of '86, and we didn't hire Joe Dean until April of '87. I don't even know who actually hired Mike Archer, but there was all kinds of turmoil in the Athletic Department that had spilled over into the Chancellor's office. I don't any HC worth a shite wanted into that nightmare.

And I'd argue, looking back 3 years later, Ed Orgeron's tenure was a pretty big success, despite the horrible way it ended. Miles was done. Ed's 1st 3 years ended in a Citrus Bowl loss, a Fiesta Bowl win, and 15-0 National Championship that is arguably the best college football team of all time. And we had a Heisman winner for the 1st time since 1959. Pretty decent 1st 3 years.

And the beauty of his spectacular flameout was he did it so fast that the job was still very attractive and allowed Woodward to go out and get Brian Kelly. Which we were able to do with a ton of guaranteed cash, yes, but mainly because Kelly knew he had hit his ceiling at Notre Dame and was ready to leave. The TIMING worked out. A year earlier or a year later, and who knows who our HC would be. Who would it be if we had gone the way you're wanting A&M to go and we'd had wound up with Jimbo or Tom Herman? How would the last 8 seasons have gone? I'd gladly sacrifice the shite '20 and
'21 seasons for the 1st 3 seasons of Oregon's tenure and the 1st 2 of Kelly's and where we seem to be headed.

Let's say Earley turns into another Orgeron. Or Larry Coker. You can even take out the NCs. Let's say he uses the roster he inherits and the momentum of the program and gets A&M to the Supers next year, Omaha the year after, the CWS Final the year after that (and they lose). Then in Year 4 his inability run a big time program is exposed, and they miss the tourney in Years 4 and 5. At that point he's proven that you can win at A&M--that it wasn't all Schloss--and the job is really attractive with a ton of cash to throw at the next HC and a month-long head start in the search to woo and get the guy they want.

Or he sucks the next 2 years, has a small buy out, gets shite-canned, and then they have time to do a proper search, still with a ton of cash, and still only 4 seasons removed from making the Final 4 and Final 2 of the CWS in back to back years.

I don't like A&M, and I don't like Trev Alberts. I hope this hire sucks. But under the circumstances, I don't think we should be pounding our chests like it's some huge failure just yet. And I hate UT and Schloss more, so if this hurts them at all, I'm all for it.

The outcry on social media for him (amongst Ags) has been deafening. So hat’s off to Trev Alberts for listening.

Listening to the outcry and former and current players always works out

Aggies: we have the most money and everybody wants to work here! We get whoever we want!

Aggies after being turned down by 5 head coaches: assistants that have never been head coaches in their life are better hires anyway!!!

National media really pissed about the outburst at the reporter. Prominant commentators have said they will ridicule schlongnagle whenever they get an opening.

The players are definitely pumped!

Hayden Schott said he and Laviolette hugged because they were so proud of him for getting the job.

Coaches get angry with reporters fairly often.

I don't think Schloss is some pariah now, Kendall Rogers said he hasn't seen any evidence of wrongdoing either.

He is also friends with Schloss and probably isn't looking for dirt on him. I think he chose his words carefully.

"That's just because Rogers is a closet sip that carries the water for Texas whenever he can" -aggies (half of which probably don't realize Rogers went to A&M)

That Rogers “article” was a ridiculously one-sided fluff piece. And he’s getting raked over the coals for it.

There’s a reason why Longhorn fans are literally thanking him for writing it. That tells you all you need to know.
